Happy World Albatross Day!
The Day of Awareness was established in 2020 to review the conservation crisis surrounding these large seabirds. It marks the anniversary of an international treaty, the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP), which came to be in reaction to a large number of albatrosses and petrels killed by fisheries.
The Falklands are one of the most important sites globally for this beautiful seabird, holding 70 % (500,000 pairs) of the world's population! 🤩
