Just a little bit about me

Hiya 🙋‍♀️, I am Marelize!

There’s a lot of new people who have discovered my page since I’ve launched my giveaway🤸‍♀️.

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to everyone and to put a face behind my part-time business.

I am an Afrikaans South African and I’ve been living in England for the past 18 years. My husband and I met over here and we have grown into a family of four 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 – two very busy boys to fill our day. My heart 💓will always be in Africa – the friendly people, smiles all around 😁, animal kingdom 🐘🦁🦏🦒🦓🐆, the peace and quiet atmosphere around a bushfire 🔥on the farm 🐂 gazing at the stars 🌌 and just the whole country with its beauty.

My friend Marina and I always said that we will have a guesthouse 🏡 together and call it M² - she would have done the food side 🍲🥗🍰 and I the business side📊, but seeing that we are worlds 🌍 apart, that didn’t become a reality. I grew up with parents that invested in property, so that became naturally for me to choose property as an investment strategy as well 👍. I wanted to chase a bit of my dream, but none of my long-term tenants wanted to move out and I didn’t have the courage as well. Been knocked down a few times with agents that didn’t want anything to do with company lettings and so I gave it a rest 😥.

During this pandemic 😷, I’ve noticed an empty property in our area and bought the deeds online to track down the owner. Long story short, I’ve kitted the place out in what I feel comfortable with, Africa, and started advertising. As being new to hospitality, I was scared to start this side of my business, but got a few short stays and then a couple that is looking to buy a house, so taking it on a month by month basis. Ideally I would like to cater for corporate staff and contractors to be a home from home alternative to hotels for short term stays.

I am a people person and love meeting other individuals 🤝, having chats (sometimes too much 🤦‍♀️) , introducing other people to my culture and food 🍽️ (I love baking so you might be in for a treat 🎂). Would love to do hospitality full-time; however, would have to expand in order to make that a reality.
