Spring is just round the corner!
I’m always in awe when walk through Stirling some of the details the stone masons put into their work. It’s not just the thistles that are impressive, but the scroll work on the bottom of the widow is beautiful (sorry don’t know the technical term!)

Although the Victorians gave us so much, we also lost things to them too!
The wall at Corn Exchange Road being one of them.
The old corn exchange yard, was flanked by the city wall, until mid 1800, then a pedestrian gap was made in the wall to allow access into the old town. In the late 1800’s gunpowder was used to blow up the rest of the wall to make the breach we see today!

Some of the few remaining wrought iron fencing left around Stirling. During WW1 a call went out to donate metal for munitions. Many of the houses cut down their fencing for this war effort, but unfortunately this type of metal was unusable 😔
