💙💙 We have been on this amazing Paris city break with our friends at Gold Crest Holidays and can honestly say we loved every minute and we will definitely be going back again.

💜 Day 1
Is your travel day down to Dover before boarding your ⛴️ to Calais, before heading to your hotel for the next 4 nights. On your tickets your seat numbers for the main coach will be detailed. If you board a “feeder” coach to Medway services (as we did) the seats are unallocated for this part of the journey, but our coach was only half full so we had plenty of space.

🏨 Our hotel was the lovely Mercure Versailles which was a comfortable, friendly, welcoming base for the trip. The staff were all extremely friendly, the continental breakfast was perfect for the trip and it’s in a cracking location. It’s a 30 minute drive by coach to Paris, 5 mins to the Palace of Versailles and a 2 minute walk to the Westfield Shopping centre which has some great shops and several bars / restaurants. For your trip the hotel will be the same or similar (exact hotel will be confirmed on your tickets)

Day 2.
Today is your guided tour of the beautiful city of Paris. Our drivers knew Paris like the back of their hands, we saw all of the sights that you would expect and hope to see, plus plenty of places you would never know to look for. As well as driving round the city, you get plenty of time to walk around the key sights, enjoy lunch before your 1 hour boat trip down the Seine, sailing from the base of the Eiffel Tower.

We were then dropped off back at the Latin quarter where there are restaurants offering food from all corners of the world at great prices. Before heading back to the hotel we stopped at the Trocadero for the lost amazing views of the Eiffel Tower all lit up at night.

We arrived back at the hotel at 10pm when you can either retire for the evening, enjoy a drink in the hotel bar, or pop over to one of the bars / restaurants in the Westfield centre for a night cap.

Day 3
After a little lie in, we left the hotel around 10am for the short drive to the Palace of Versailles, the principal residence of Louis XIV to Louis XVI. Tickets for entry to the stunning gardens are included in the trip. These gardens are beautiful where behind the palace, the ground falls away in every side from a terrace adorned with ornamental basins, statues and bronze groups. You can easily spend the full day in the gardens, but you may want to go and see inside the palace itself. Entry to the palace isn’t included in the tour, but if you want to go into the palace we can help with the additional booking. You can either buy a general entry ticket, or we purchased a ticket for a guided tour of the Palace which lasts approx 90 mins, including headsets and skip the line entry where was saw the Royal Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, the Chapel and the Royal Opera.

We returned to the hotel around 6pm and enjoyed a lovely meal and a few drinks over at the Westfield centre.

Day 4
you return back into Paris for a free day, we arrived back in Paris around 0930 and left about 1930 for the journey back to the hotel. You can either have your evening meal in Paris before you leave, or wait and pop back over to the Westfield.

Day 5.
After breakfast we left the hotel around 0830 for the journey back to Calais to board the ferry for Dover, before joining our feeder coach again for the journey back home.

🩶 Day 2. Today is spent looking at the British & Canadian involvement on 06 June 1944, with visits to Pegasus Bridge, Pegasus Memorial Museun, graves at Ranville War Cemetery. Later you move to Sword, Juno and Gold beaches, also seeing the British Normandy Memorial. The day ends looking at the story of the Mulberry Harbour, the artificial port that was key to the Allied success.

🩶 Day 3. We move onto the Normandy American Cemetery, overlooking Omaha Beach and then onto Overlord Museum, one of the best in Normandy. Later we go along Omaha beach area itself seeing memorials and bunkers, uncovering the real story of Saving Private Ryan and the reality of ‘Bloody Omaha’. In the afternoon we look at the Airborn operations around the town including the story of the ‘Band of Brothers’ and visit our final D-Day beach, Utah beach. Here we see where some of the most successful landings on D-Day took place. The day finishes with a visit to the German Cemetery at La Cambe and the Bayeux War Cemetery.

🩶 Day 4. We move beyond D-Day and look at the fighting in the Bocage countryside following a route along the ‘Scottish Corridor’, visiting Hill 112 with its Churchill Tank and Memorial Park. After lunchtime in Falaise, we see the ‘Corridor of Death’ used by the Germans to make their retreat in August 1944. At Mount Ormel we remember the Polish troops who fought here and end at Vimoutiers seeing a rare example of an original German Tiger Tank, abandoned nearby in 1944.

🩶 Day 5. After breakfast start the journey back home.
