Fine walk to Skatie Shore and the Highland Boundary Fault with Vincent and Elaine from Strathaven. Tide was high so no groaties to be found but a universe of mini creatures on the shingle. We were watched closely by a seal all along the beach. Wonderful.

World Champion visits Stonehaven and comes on our walking tour to Dunnottar Castle.
It was a great pleasure to walk with Daniele Cassioli and his partner Giulia Castiglioni from Milan. Daniele who has been blind from birth has been part of the Italian National Water skiing team since the age of 10. Since then he has won 25 World Cup Gold medals 25 European Gold Medals and 41 Italian Championship Gold Medals and is classed as the greatest Paralympic nautical skier of all time. He holds the world record in specialty of jumping, in figures and slalom. Daniele was also named in the Italian Sports Awards as Paralympic sportsman of the year in 2012 and 2014 . Daniele has achieved many other awards and honours and even managed to drive a car completing 10 laps of a circuit at a speed of 50.66 km a record time never recorded before by a blind person. Daniele is now a member of the Italian Paralympic Committee and also the founder of a charity to encourage children with visual impairment to get involved in sport.

A lovely Dunnottar Castle coastal walk last week with Deborah, from California. The rain stopped and we enjoyed spectacular views in the sunshine. Most enjoyable.

In 1754 the townspeople of Stonehaven were ordered to 'clean' the harbour by manually removing stones from the harbour bed to ensure safe access for boats. Today the harbour bed is being cleared by a less manual and quite impressive process. Join us on our guided walks and learn more about our local history.

The wild weather this week has taken its toll; couple of new landslides on the castle path, Lady Kennedy's bath is very full in Dunnottar Woods and the harbour has a wee casualty too. May has certainly come in 'like a lion', here's hoping it does indeed go out 'like a lamb'.
