Bakewell Old House Museum is an absolute not to miss when staying at Wayside, Peak District!

A really interesting way to learn about the history of our area and positioned in a central location right next to Bakewell All Saints Church.

Open 11-4 Mon-Sun March-Nov

Tickets are very reasonable:
Adults: £6.50
Children (5-16): £4.00
Under 5’s: Free

Once purchased, tickets are valid for entry into the museum for a whole year.

We highly recommend you visiting The Ashford Arms for your Sunday Lunch whilst staying at Wayside, Peak District. Ashford-in-the-Water is a pretty little village, positioned just 10mins drive away from Wayside, and The Ashford Arms has a menu to drool over!!

…..if you aren’t staying on a Sunday, visit for lunch or dinner on any other day and try their a la carte, you will NOT be disappointed!

We have a new Visitor Centre and Kitchen on the outskirts of our little village of Stoney Middleton and it is absolutely superb!
Just a 10minute walk from Wayside, Peak District and you can be served this scrumptious breakfast at The Cupola, Visitor Centre & Kitchen!! What a treat, hey?!!

The business owners in our locality are quite literally hardcore!!
The Peaks have taken a battering from Storm Babet, but there are some local business owners that have rallied hard today (some of course have been hit too hard!😔) and are ready to welcome visitors again. Come and support them-they really do deserve it!!! 👏👏

Our Uncle Nick was the greatest, most adventurous climber I’ve ever known. He travelled all over the world to climb places I never knew existed. It was he who taught us about the enticement of Stoney Middleton cliff faces, long before we purchased Wayside, Peak District with the very same cliff face in our back yard.

Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a Sarcoma in his leg. It was after his diagnosis that he painted this powerful picture of him still climbing despite this diagnosis.

Devastatingly, we won’t now have the chance to show him that his painting will take pride of place in our living room at Wayside. But, it’s ready to be framed and will take pride of place.

A powerful message to us all to keep going no matter what life throws at us. Live your dream without excuse.

You can take the footpath behind Wayside, Peak District and walk over the fields, passing the Coolstone that Visit Peak District & Derbyshire refer to, and arrive in Eyam in less than 20minutes. It’s a very special village.
….we definitely recommend visiting Stella's Kitchen Eyam whilst you are there too!

Have you heard the tragic tale of the Peak District’s ‘Plague Village’? 🏡 In 1665, the entire village of Eyam quarantined itself to prevent an outbreak of the Great Plague from spreading to neighboring communities.

Today, the story of the selfless villagers can be discovered at Eyam Museum and places of interest including the Coolstone in which money - usually soaked in vinegar - was placed in exchange for food and medicine 🥔
