🚨 RNLI urges public to stay safe as Storm Éowyn hits UK,

Storm Éowyn is set to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the UK this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is urging those near the coast to be aware of the dangers the storm weather could bring.

Weather warnings are in place for Thursday in some areas along with Friday & Saturday, The expected strong winds and adverse weather could pose as a danger to life or serious safety risk to those around the coast.

The weather warnings are predicted to affect most of the UK with areas of Scotland and Ireland with potentially 90+mph gusts expected in coastal locations combined with severe rain and snow events across the country in areas.

The RNLI’s key water safety advice is:

✅ Take care if walking near cliffs, seafronts or piers – be aware of ice and frost, know your route and keep dogs on a lead, ideally keep away from these areas and pier ends.

✅ Check weather forecasts and tide times daily.

✅ Take a fully charged phone.

✅ Check your equipment is in good working order.

✅ Be aware of the conditions and your capabilities.

✅ In an emergency call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.

Dont risk your life for the sake of a photo opportunity, especially around rocky areas or piers and particularly towards high tide times when it can be all the more treacherous.
