Swallow Barn is an individual converted barn nestling deep in the Suffolk countryside. The barn has been designed to cater for practicality without compromising on quality and cosiness. As dog owners ourselves we know how difficult it can be to find somewhere that will take dogs and not everyone wants to leave their dog behind at the kennels as they are after all part of the family! The barn has a

private garden and in addition guests can enjoy shared access to our private meadow with pond behind the property. The area is a real haven for wildlife and bird watchers can enjoy watching the nesting swallows practice ducking and diving over the field in the cool of the evening. You may also see a deer graze in the field and the occasional magical barn owl. If you like seeing hares then the early spring and summer months find them in abundance in the nearby fields. We can also offer a variety of lovely walks across unspoilt countryside where you can enjoy peace and solitude. We are approximately 20 minutes drive from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Stowmarket is approximately 20 minutes away and from there it is approximately an hour by train to London Liverpool Street. We have an abundance of good eateries and old pubs offering everything from comfort food to fine dining. Suffolk is a haven for the arts and still houses many lovely independent shops and with so many things to do we can't wait to share this beautiful area with you.

An evenings walk yesterday beautiful wild flower margins and no one in sight. Such peace can be yours. A few days left in August and then thinking about Autumn breaks. 4 day minimum dogs welcome.

This is my darling Sonny and something of how we ended up here; guardians of a reactive dog who was highly sensitive to people AND other dogs. What to do with such a dog when you want to have a holiday?

We so know what that feels like! So maybe I can reassure you as Swallow Barn has it’s own secure garden and access to our own private field so, if you really can’t face walking the largely quiet footpaths you can walk around our field secure in the knowledge they won’t be triggered.

In the past we have put ‘signals’ in place with our guests to indicate their dog is out so we need to keep ours inside for a bit. It so helps with the guilt to know you and your pooch have understanding hosts by your side

This is such a gorgeous time of year at Swallow Barn. The best of days when a gentle breeze shows the beauty of the grasses and buttercups waving against the comforting sound of the birds and bees. Still some dates available for Summer, 4 day minimum. See our website for details.

Psst ….Doggy guests you are allowed on the sofa at our place. We know dog owners love nothing better than a snuggle up with you on a cold day. Sit in front of our cosy Woodburner and enjoy a film. Bookings for November are still available, please note 4 day minimum. WiFi available.

‘Couldn't have wished for a warmer welcome. Rosie met us on arrival and made us and our nervous rescue dog, feel right at home from the word go. The field for walking **** was a fabulous bonus - worth the fee for that alone. The bag packed with doggy essentials was a winning touch, too. Inside, the barn was absolutely charming too. Great kitchen, lovely wet room, cosy living room with a log burner and a bed so comfy that we didn't want to leave it. Deffo choose this one if you want a rural retreat to decompress in, a great base to explore Suffolk from and the perfect spot to share some quality time and space with your dog 🐕 at.’

When you take your dogs on holiday it’s great to know there are dog walks on your doorstep. This walk is 5 mins from the barn and we saw hares an Oyster Catcher and were serenaded by the skylarksbut no people 😊
