RESIDENTIAL
Although some small-scale residential brick slip projects can be completed by a competent DIY-er, there are other occasions when it is better to get the professionals in to guarantee a quality finish that you will be happy to live with - don't forget, this is a feature that you will look at every day and if mistakes are made in the installation process they can be difficult and costly to correct. For product knowledge and experience; efficient cost-effective service; and an authentic look that is hard to distinguish from a genuine full-brick feature, We Fit Brickslips Ltd will ensure that your finished result is exactly what you wanted, at a price you were happy to pay. EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE! Historically a relatively minor player when it came to feature walls and exterior cladding, the usage of brick slips exploded onto the market several years ago and rapidly became one of the most popular choices for architects, interior designers and home-owners alike. From its rapid growth in popularity came an equally rapid growth in production, with an increasing array being introduced over recent years. Brick slips, also known as brick tiles, brick veneers, thin bricks, brick cladding and brick facings, are now available in a huge range of styles, types, colours and sizes.
'Real' brick slips are made from the facings cut from standard clay bricks that are often intentionally manufactured or 'tumbled' to appear very rustic and uneven. Others are simply a modification of the process for conventional brick, whereby extruded clay is run down the production line but wire-cut into slimline profiles before being kiln-fired in the normal way. Further alternatives are those manufactured from materials such as concrete or fibreglass, cast from textured moulds to mimic the appearance of brick. All are perfectly viable options, merely dependent upon the type of finish required, where the product will be used and the extent of the budget. Whilst the appeal and demand for brick slips understandably grew, what was widely overlooked in the early stages of the 'boom' was the best method of installation. Closer in application to tiling than bricklaying, the installation is actually a combination of the two skilled trades, incorporating elements of both. Whilst it doesn't take a Degree in rocket science to be able to install brick slips, there is a substantial difference between 'getting them on the wall' and achieving a high quality, authentic-looking finish. Having over 35 years' experience in the building trade specialising in artisan tiling and flooring, We Fit Brickslips director Martyn George recognised the niche in the market and transferred his expertise to the brick slip industry, perfecting the installation process and becoming highly sought after as one of the UK's premier brick slip fitters. After working independently as a brick slip contractor for a number of years, Martyn took on several apprentices and formally established We Fit Brick Slips Ltd in 2015. Although the primary installation product is brick slips, contracts of all sizes and complexities using travertine, split-face mosaics and stone are still very much part of the business which, like its main component, continues to grow from strength to strength. Location, location, location is widely recognised as an essential factor towards successful investment within the property industry. Within the brick slip installation market, one of the most important elements in achieving a first class, affordable, timely project is undeniably Experience, experience, experience .....
