Next Wednesday, Stay Gower will be receiving their first electric van with a full range battery of 250 miles. VW has truly elevated their game with the new I.D. Buzz Cargo. We will share pictures once we have picked it up from John Smith at the VW van centre in Cardiff and it has been sign written.

🏖 Mumbles is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous areas on the Western edge of Swansea. With an expanse of stunning coastline, beaches, independent shops and restaurants, there’s plenty to see when visiting the area!

🌊 Mumbles marks the start of the Gower Peninsula – a 19-mile stretch of coastline which continually picks up accolades for its beauty and was even awarded ‘UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ back in 1956!

🏝 You’ll be spoilt for choice with beaches, starting with the 5-mile long stretch of Swansea Bay Beach, which leads to Mumbles from the heart of the city.

🎣 Knab Rock beach lies adjacent to Mumbles village and is a popular place to try your hand at fishing. There’s a car park right next to the beach, so you can even fish without leaving your vehicle at low-tide! The fantastic views look out onto The Mumbles Lifeboat RNLI Station and it’s only a short walk to Mumbles Pier. The Pier is an iconic landmark in Swansea, originally built in 1898, this Grade II listed building is steeped in history. In 2019, the Pier underwent extensive refurbishment and the multi-million regeneration project is ongoing. Mumbles Pier is another renowned spot amongst fishermen and has dedicated platforms to fish from. No trip to the seaside is complete without visiting the amusement arcade on the Pier, a great place to go for some family fun! Make sure to stop by the Beach Hut café for refreshments and take in the panoramic views across Swansea Bay.

🍦 The award-winning Bracelet Bay beach sits right on Mumbles Head. Made up of mostly rock and pebbles, there are plenty of rockpools for paddling and discovering wildlife. The beach is surrounded by limestone cliffs and offers fantastic views of the Mumbles Lighthouse. The Lighthouse was built in 1794 and is still used to this day to guide boats safely into Swansea Bay. There are some lovely local eateries to sample nearby. Why not try Castellamare Restaurant an Italian restaurant where you can dine whilst overlooking the wonderful views of Bracelet Bay and sit out on the terrace when the sun is shining. Another restaurant to visit with views of the panoramic vista of Bracelet Bay, The Lighthouse is Swansea’s new spot to meet, eat & relax. Overlooking Limeslade Bay Beach, a small, sheltered rocky cove, Forte's Ice Cream Parlour Mumbles is a must-visit to satisfy your ice cream needs! The business was first set up in 1936 by the Macari family and is still run by them today, 4 generations down the line! If fine dining is your style, book a table at Slice, an award-winning restaurant just a few miles away from Mumbles. Featured in the Michelin guide, Slice Swansea is a relaxed little restaurant serving beautiful dishes using the finest, locally sourced ingredients.

🏰 If you’re interested in history, Oystermouth Castle is a great place to visit. This 12th Century Castle is situated on top of a 40ft high limestone ridge and has amazing views overlooking the village of Mumbles.

⛱ With half term nearly upon us, if you’re visiting Swansea and the Gower there’s plenty of things to do to on your holiday!

🏝 The Gower boasts some of the most stunning beaches and is a great place to go and make some unforgettable memories. With around 30 gorgeous beaches, The Gower Peninsula is a favourite for those who love kicking back and relaxing on the golden sands, bird watching, wildlife spotting and exhilarating water sports. The 3-mile long Rhossili Beach regularly makes the list of the world’s best beaches with its vast expanse of sand dunes and sprawling cliffs, with the scenic Worm’s Head at the end. Three Cliffs bay has some of the best views and tends to be a bit quieter than some of the other beaches, making it all the more special. Caswell Beach and Langland Beach are perfect for a family adventure with all the facilities you’ll need nearby. Make sure to stop for an ice cream before you leave! If water sports are your thing, Llangennith Beach is a surfers paradise and you can hire paddle boards and kayaks to explore the magnificent coastline.

🦭 There's plenty of wildlife in the local waters, so bring a pair of binoculars and see what you can spot! Seals are very common here as well as porpoises, dolphins and a vast variety of bird species. The entire Gower Coast Path is 39 miles in length, so it’s easy to spend days rambling along the trails and taking in the views. Bring a picnic to enjoy amongst the natural beauty of the coastline.

🚴‍♂️ Cycling is a good way to explore and discover the out-of-the-way hidden gems of the Gower. Once again voted some of the best cycling areas in the world, Swansea Bay has plenty of free-from-traffic cycle routes and is part of the Celtic Trail and National Cycle Network, great for families. Take it easy with a cycle along the Promenade or if you’re more of an adrenaline ju**ie – head for the hills! Afan Forest Park in the Vale of Neath has a worldwide reputation for mountain-biking. There are trails for everyone. Families and newbies can go for the green trails, they’re still a challenge – but it’s the views that take your breath away.

🍕 Swansea and the Gower is home to many local bars, independent restaurants and shops. Head to Swansea town centre for all your shopping needs. There are plenty of eating spots suitable for children, activity play centres and a cinema for all of your entertainment needs. With so much to pack into your visit, you won’t run out of things to do on your Gower holiday!

😍 Discover the golden sands of beach!

🏖 Llangennith beach is a fantastic, spacious and sandy beach situated on the western edge of the Gower Peninsula. The beach spans for over three miles, so there is plenty of room to sit back, relax and take in the scenery.

🏄‍♀️ Extremely popular amongst surfers with plenty of waves, this beach is great for water sports and those seeking adrenaline! It’s the main surfing destination of the Gower, if the waves are good on any other local beach, they will be even better here!

🌞 There's lots of beautiful sand and high dunes, so it’s great for the kids and relaxing with friends and family alike. With something for everyone, this beach really has it all!

🔭 It’s also worth heading up to Llangennith beach viewpoint, where you’ll see the most spectacular views overlooking The Gower and beyond.

🥾 If walking is your thing, there are plenty of sand dunes and gentle coastal path walks to ramble over.

🐶 Llangennith beach is dog friendly all year round, so after a good walk, why not head to the dog-friendly King’s Head pub in the quaint village of Llangennith, for some delicious homemade food and local ales.

Cathole Cave is a cave near Parc Cwm long cairn at Parc le Breos, on the Gower Peninsula.
❓ ❓ In 2010, Dr. George Nash of the University of Bristol explored Cathole Cave and discovered a rock drawing of a red deer which may be the oldest cave art found in Great Britain. 🤩🦌
