We have John and Colin from Brixham staying with us Harford Bridge. They are 78 and 79 years old and still getting out on their bikes and making the most of what Tavistock and Dartmoor can offer. Even if you don't cycle or can't walk very far we have an excellent 118 bus service from Dartline Coaches stopping out on the main road taking you into either Tavistock or Okehampton.

What an exciting day on the campsite today when our miniature crested mummy duck thought it was time to introduce her offspring to us. Here are the six little bundles of fluff in the nursery and also a picture one being held by our manager Hermione.

A very big shout out to the Lanyon family. It started as a father and son ride on the c2c from Braunton to Okehampton and then to us at Peter Tavy. Then Grandad has jumped in on the action and joined the boys to continue on to Plymouth for the final leg. These guys really do know how to make memories.

We really do have some fabulous memory makers staying with us. Andy completed 32 mile Dartmoor Discovery ultra marathon yesterday organised by the . He is a wee bit stiff but still full of smiles this morning. Well done to Andy, all the runners and support crew of this marvelous event.

Shout out to the fabulous Goodman family. They set off on their bicycles from Barnstaple to Okehampton then across to us at Peter Tavy for the night. Now suitably refreshed and recharged they are going onward to Plymouth. What a great effort, well done guys.

Although we are a bit late to the planting party the children had a fantastic time planting sun flower seeds to take home with them. We even had a visit from the Queen Bee to talk about our precious pollinators.

We had an AA Caravan and Camping inspection on the 8 May and we have achieved our highest percentage score to date... a magnificent 94% resulting in a 5 star rating.

Did you know that we have a 4 acre secured dog walking field to safely walk you dogs whilst staying Harford Bridge. You can wander through the young apple trees and look at the wild flower meadow whilst walking your beloved pooch. Don't forget we have a dog shower on site should your four legged friend roll around in some smelly stuff.

We had some amazing birdsong this morning, We managed to identify the birds by using the Merlin Bird ID app. Have a look at what was singing. The common Redstart and Garden Warbler are new ones for me.

The Man Engine at Tavistock 25th July 2016

The Man Engine - a giant puppet built to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Cornwall & West Devon Mining World Heritage Site (WHS). Its first showing took place in the Market Square, Tavistock Devon in front of a multitude on 25th July 2016. It then started a journey to Geevor, Cornwall, calling at mining heritage sites along the way. Tavistock was built on the profits from mining by the Dukes of Bedford and is the official Western Gateway to the WHS. It's a vibrant and exceptionally well preserved Victorian market town with many historic landmark buildings, and well worth a visit. Harford Bridge Holiday Park is just over 2 miles from Tavistock.

Doris Dave now swims in the bath as s/he is too big for the kitchen sink! Our rescue duckling now weighs 270g and is very strong. Full grown duck behaviour is being displayed with drilling, preening and sleeping with the big beak under a tiny wing ...
