Today, we had one last glimpse of Duggie before he made his way back to the North Pole... 🎅

In true mischievous style, Duggie left us with a parting gift—a cheeky smirk caught on the Entrance Hall security camera—before disappearing for good!

Thank you all for joining in on Duggie’s adventures—wishing you a magical Christmas!✨

Duggie the Elf couldn’t resist visiting the Leaping Arch today! 🌊

Crafted by renowned local artist, Andy Goldsworthy, the sculpture was commissioned by the Duke of Buccleuch in 2009, constructed using sandstone quarried right here on the Estate—the same stone used to build the Castle itself!

🔵⭐Our Blue and Yellow way-marked walks on the Estate, will pass the Leaping Arch as you head along the Marr Burn:

On this day in 1745, Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed in this room at the Castle for a single night as he retreated north during the Jacobite Rising.

Now called the Bonnie Prince Charlie Bedroom, this room is featured on our Guided Tour at Drumlanrig Castle, offering visitors a glimpse into Scotland’s dramatic past.

House Tours are now available to book for April 2025:

It seems Duggie might need a little longer arms and legs to get this bike moving! 🚲

This intriguing contraption is a replica of Kirkpatrick MacMillan's push bike, believed to be the first-ever pedal-driven bicycle. Born in 1812, MacMillan was an assistant to the blacksmith at Drumlanrig Castle—a role that sparked his remarkable creativity and craftsmanship.

While the painters weren’t looking, Duggie couldn’t resist leaving his mark on our new holiday property! Looks like we’ve got a little graffiti artist on our hands!

Ahh... so now we know who's been using up all the ink for the printer! 🖨

Whether Duggie just wanted a nice self-portrait or was leaving us a cheeky farewell gift, we can only hope he doesn’t get his hands on the laminator next!

Duggie has settled into the Gardener's potting shed, keeping a close (and mischievous) eye on the team as they craft the final Christmas wreaths.🌿

If you're still looking for your own wreath this Christmas, Monday 15th is our final day for orders. After that, Duggie might take over the wreath-making and that could result in more 'chaos' than 'Christmas'...

See our wreath range and order online before it's too late:

The Pink Palace

A royal welcome awaits you at Drumlanrig Castle

Immerse yourself in history at majestic Drumlanrig Castle. The finely hewn red sandstone that gives the ‘Pink Palace’ its affectionate name, adds to the beauty of what is regarded as one of the finest examples of 17th Century Renaissance architecture in Scotland. As you stand beneath the Castle’s imposing façade you’ll take in the same breathtaking views across the Nith Valley that convinced the first Duke of Queensberry to build his ancestral home here.
