Jamie Stone MP petitioned the Government about our astronomical electricity bills and secured an emergency debate with the Energy Minister who had to listen to many MPβs lobby him for help and assistance for their very concerned constituents. Watch a clip from Jamie's opening remarks π₯
Andrew was lucky to be in London at the time and went to parliament to witness the debate. After the debate he said β it is scary how many are affected by the impending fuel poverty epidemic, all the solutions put forward by all partyβs at the debate to address fuel poverty were βdismissedβ by Government β ranging from a cut in the VAT on energy, Windfall Tax which would cut the huge profits these multi billion pound companyβs that we are customers of and simple winter fuel allowances for the elderly and low income familyβs. we thank MP Stone for securing the debate and for getting a private appointment with the Energy Minister to discuss the crisis including our 70% price hike and the 6 figure sum JGC are having to find each year to cover their increaseβ. π²
