With a heavy heart I’m letting you know, that due to health reasons we won’t be opening again. Please know that I will be ever grateful for the encouragement, positivity and love we’ve received in this community. I’ve tried putting into words how I feel about our journey, but it’s all too much right now.

I’ve hit January with feelings of overwhelming positivity and how refreshing it is too!
If you’re being bombarded with hardship, it’s ok to stumble and fall. Sometimes it’s just not possible to snap out of a cycle of negative thought! Try and remember though, the moment will pass and better days will come! (And…Don’t suffer in silence…there’s help somewhere near)
Van development has hit a few walls due to (normal life stuff) some hiccups! We’ll be opening as soon a possible with reduced hours (mainly evenings), so I can continue a couple of part time jobs! Starting trading in January isn’t going to work full time for us, so we’re on plan B (sorry, plan D I think it is now 😂)… and we’ll see where the roller coaster ride takes us!
Thanks ( millions) to everyone who has messaged and sent well wishes to us and our business… much appreciated ☺️

Good morning ☀️❄️
I’ve been putting off posting for several reasons, but mainly due to uncertainty about when,where,how we’ll be contributing to cheesy world domination again And my emotional instability around broaching what’s happened to our plans.
So first of all, I’m sorry for the lack of communication and information. Here’s what’s happening right now….

Progress on the white van is slow, although the work done so far is spot on! My clever brother Doug has worked wonders with design and fitting, and Steve has been putting in Saturday hours too, along with our mate Bill. I’m so grateful for their commitment to getting the van as perfect as possible, especially as they have full time employment. Now it’s busy for Doug and he’s working Saturdays, so we’re looking forward to nailing a few days during the Christmas holiday.
West Yorkshire Police have gone quiet on the investigation of Parminder Singh (Pummy to his friends and victims), and we’re not thinking we’ll get our 15k back.

No one thinks they’ll be scammed and I like to think we’re pretty smart, but when it happens it can have a devastating effect on the victim. Feelings of shame, panic and an overwhelming disappointment in (some forms of) humanity. With this in mind, I’m grateful for the support and understanding given to us by so many friends and customers.

Van life (in the fast lane), is now due to commence in 2023
No dates/times now, in order to avoid disappointment.

Hey! Hope you’re all ok there!!
Facebook tells me I need to connect and I do agree! It’s getting exciting, as the electrics are almost done ( and a much better system than we used in the green machine 😁).
Having been to a festival in the West Midlands recently, I’ve been inspired by some mobile culinary experts and am going to be cooking up some new options for our menus!
Looking forward to getting back asap, but it’s going to be several weeks before we’re ready! We’re convinced that the white van is the right van and we’ll be singing and dancing in our kitchen soon!!!

Hey 🧀💛 hope everyone’s ok! Sorry for the lack of communication, I’ve been busy feeling sorry for myself 🙄 Enough of that though, on we go!
You may have seen our new van has a hatch-way! Excited that the conversion is now underway! (big journeys begin with small steps …. Although to be absolutely honest, ours has been more of a drunken stagger!!!)
The BBC’s Rip off Britain airs it’s take on Pummy the scam artist and Emerald Conversions Ltd, Wednesday 11th (I think it’s at 9a.m?)
Pictured also, my birthday cheesecake ( last weekend, so it’s not my birthday anymore!!!), made by our good friend Ian Sargent, modelled by our good friend Irish Jamie 💗💗 and then there’s my breakfast this morning 😂

The white one went straight to ‘Adjusted Customs’ in Uffculme, where the serving hatch is being made, so there’s not much to report right now!
I’m applying for jobs, as the bank of Lou is rupt! 🤞🏻

Apart from ordered food, we will be serving breakfast baps and baguettes, along with burgers and chunky chips (cheesy and loaded chips).
We’re still no ordinary burger van and if you haven’t tried us yet, come and check us out for quality and value for money 😂
Yesterday we knocked up an omelette for a regular customer who asked for a ‘hard egg’… we threw in some onion, bacon and cheese and think it’ll make an appearance on the new menu! 🥳

Open this week until everything’s sold! We’ve struck a deal on a van from friends who have been very kind! We’re very grateful and excited (terrified) to get on with a conversion! On a more important note…

El porco is marinating and will be slow cooked over night… Cider and BBQ Pulled Pork tomorrow or until it’s sold! Homemade coleslaw available and tell me how you want it! Over chunky chips, Nachos, in a toasted garlic baguette, non- toasted baguette, or in a roll!

We’re getting a different van and doing our own conversion, with the help from local businesses and family! It’ll be ours!! No one will take it away and no more nasty surprises 🎉🎊🎉 It’ll take time to make her pretty, but we’ll be concentrating on the working aspect first!
Open tomorrow from 10 and thereafter normal times until I’ve sold everything!! Sorry to be vague, but I’ve decided not to buy in further supplies and selling out is the best option for me. Will keep y’all posted and will look forward to coming back, bigger, better, faster….more!

I’m not saying I’m a drama Queen but…. Next episode!!!! 🙄
Police have been round! We were serving our customer and chatting with my friend, when the car pulled up… I knew he was coming for me, and as it wasn’t to talk about employment rights ( my sister in-law helps out when I’m busy 😁 I’ll pay her when I’m rich and famous, honest😂), it had to be about the green machine! I went to him ( no dignity in being dragged from a stationary vehicle screaming there’s no justice in the world 😂). He asked how long I’d owned the van and I said ‘I don’t’ ( no point in beating around the bush… never understood that saying, but I know it fits in here😳)…. I told him the story and he said that it sounds like fraud (no sh**t Sherlock)… The PC was a very nice man and said he felt it would be unfair to seize the vehicle immediately (especially as our equipment is ensconced in the van and it won’t be a 5 minute job to get it all out). He said we’ll receive notice, before the van is collected. He validated my feelings well and also pointed out that to stop my trading status without warning would be unfair. He gave me the contact details and crime number of the officers dealing with the case in West Yorkshire and said he’d contact them with an update. I’ve left a message with the officer in charge, because I need a time frame. ( Feeling very vulnerable and not convinced we’ll get the warning promised)
We also heard back from the planners, and we’d need to put in an application for planning for a shepherd hut ( you know, those movable structures on wheels🙄), which could take up to 8 weeks (and could be turned down)… aborted that plan immediately and I’m gutted 😩
Now looking for a van (there are loads, I know) which we’ll convert ourselves 😳
Anyone skilled in catering van conversions who likes beer and Philly cheesesteaks???😲🥳😂

Now an apology to all those who commented on the cake post… We didn’t choose! My boy has work commitments ( not really as important as our cake making, but I said nothing 🙄😳😂) and is strapped for time ( know the feeling)….. HOWEVER!!! Rach ( she who never gets paid😂) has saved the day and made white chocolate and hazelnut button brownies 😲🥳🎉🎊🎉 The first person on the list of cake commenters to arrive at the van and say ‘Emerald Conversions Ltd are scammin *******!’ (Feel free to add your own expletive), will receive a brownie free! They then need to post that they’ve received first prize on the thread ( I will if I have time, but Fridays are mad here!!)
We also have Meatballs in a homemade rich tomato sauce… you know the routine… tell me how you want it!! (Baguette/loaded onto chunky chips/nachos/with garlic bread) ‘I’ve No teeth’ is not an excuse any more!!! 😂😂😂 We have soft bread too!!!

Busy in the kitchen today! Everything made fresh and tasty! Sloppy Joes are served in a toasted garlic-buttered baguette, with melted cheeses… I’m at the pannier market tomorrow, setting up shop solo, while Sheriff works in muddy holes to get us back on track after our Covid party!! Please do come and say hello, but not all at once!!! Fair to say, feeling Anxious with a bit of Excited!!! More than a step out of comfort zone, but we all know it’s the only way to make progress 👍🏼🥳😘

Day 1 of a shiny new year and here at CPL we’re thinking the world is our lobster… We need to turn around with our backs firmly facing last year and get our positive pants on!

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported our new business… we’re learning and improving as we go, and you’re all welcome along for the ride! The last couple of days serving our Christmas menu are tomorrow (Tuesday 21st) at Tiverton market and Thursday 23rd in the lay-by opposite Tiverton golf course, on the road to Halberton. 7.30-2pm We’ve got plans to move about a bit more in the new year, so if you’d like us to visit your area, let us know! We hope you all have a merry Christmas despite the challenges we’re all facing, and wish us all peace in 22! Best wishes Lou and Steve 💛
