Ever wonder about the stories behind things? This skeleton statue stands alone in the wilderness of Borgie Glen and is called simply, ’The Unknown’.

It was made in 2012 and designed to age with the landscape, its iron frame developing a bright patina as it weathered the storm of seasons and time.

The Unknown reflects the ‘outcasts’ of stories; the monsters and giants, the underdogs, and it captures that Scottish love of these outcasts; alone in their own way but standing tall against sacrifice and exile, including the Highland Clearances which had such a significant impact upon this glen.

If you travel to the north coast this year be sure to pay The Unknown a visit. And find out more about our local stories here: https://www.venture-north.co.uk/about/year-of-stories-2022
