The entrance to the River Dart (Celtic meaning - 'Where Oak Trees Grow') at Dartmouth. With Dartmouth Castle in the bottom left. Follow the river up to the old port of Totnes and then on all the way to Dartmoor where the magic begins. It's fully Swallows and Amazon's once you get up past Dittisham, Greenway Agatha Christie's old crib is along here, the Sharpam Estate backs on to the river, Stoke Gabriel is a good stop for a coffee. Just either side of high tide you can head up to Tuckenhay to the Maltsters Arms, Keith Floyd's old pub with magnificent river views. Just past Totnes town there is a Weir and the river is slow and peaceful like a natural canal. Absolutely perfect for swimming and paddleboarding. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful place to call home.
