To a child a plastic tube can be a powerful spaceship, a cardboard box a skyscraper and a pile of foam or fabric offcuts the building blocks of something amazing. We are a tiny Totton based charity providing an Aladdin’s cave of low cost recycled arts and crafts resources for the communities in which we operate. Our volunteers collect clean waste materials donated by local businesses and although

we are open to everyone, our materials are mainly used for kids arts and crafts activities stimulating innovation and creativity at a young age, enhancing learning and play experiences at the same time as diverting waste from landfill.

Having emptied our cabins, moved to our new location and restocked, we can now see exactly what stock we have.
We are of course grateful for donations from generous folk. However, we thought in order to manage the scrapstore efficiently, more guidance on what we are UNABLE TO ACCEPT would be helpful.

-SCRAP FABRIC - we have enough at present
-TOYS OR FURNITURE (even small footstools etc) - these items would be better donated to charity
MAGAZINES OR ROLLS IF WALLPAPER - best off recycled.
-GLASS, FOAM & CERAMICS - possible hazards.
-KNITTING PATTERNS AND NEEDLES - we just have too many at present.

We can still take larger pieces of fabric and smaller pieces of cotton/quilters fabrics as these will be snapped up by our members. 😁

We would also ask donators to speak with a volunteer to check that their donations are best suited for us.

We hope that our members and generous donators understand.

WE ARE REOPENING TODAY from 3-5.

Come and see our fabulous new location. We are delighted and feel sure you will be too.
From the entrance at Sunnyfields, take the road straight down and park in the fourth parking bay on the right. There’s plenty of space.

Afterwards why not take time to enjoy a cup of coffee/tea in The Garden Cafe.

Today we resume our normal opening hours.
Monday 3-5
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 10-12.

Our volunteers have been busy again this morning. We will continue restocking in the coming days.

Our three cabins are now in their new home on the Sunnyfields Farm site. Having emptied our cabins, our volunteers are now working incredibly hard to restock. We are still aiming to reopen on Monday 2/9/24.

We have some white ceramic tiles. These are free to member. What could you use them for?
Open today and tomorrow from 10-12. We will then relocate, still at Sunnyfields. We are hoping to reopen on Monday 2/9/24. We will keep you posted on our progress.

We will open today from 3-5, then again on Wednesday and Thursday from 10-12.
We will then close and move to our new site, still at Sunnyfields, nearer the shop, cafe and other facilities.

We are open tomorrow, and then Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.
We will then be closed until our ‘hopeful’ reopening on our new site within sunnyfields.
We are working hard behind the scenes to achieve our deadline of reopening on Monday 2/9/24.
Tomorrow will be the last Saturday in August to collect some treasures.we look forward to seeing you.

Sunnyfields have offered us the opportunity to move to a better location within the farm site. Parking will be easier and we will be closer to the other facilities.
Although we are only moving short distance, we need to empty our cabins. Therefore, we will be open as usual up to and including Thursday 22/8/24 and are hopeful that we will be reopening on Monday 2/9/24. We will keep you posted on our progress.

Do you find it difficult to sleep on brighter nights? The photo of eye masks was sent to us by a member, who collected the fabrics from our scraps, odd bits of bias binding and even the elastic.
The little bears were also made by one of our members for a local charity, again using scrap fabric.
We then received another idea. Flowers to brighten up your home.
Super Saturday is this week. Open from 10-2. Members can pick up a half price carrier bag of scrap fabric for 75p or a Bag for Life for just £1.

Yet another idea for using scrap fabric.
This quilt was started a number of years ago, joining us as a member, the maker was inspired to return to this project. We look forward to seeing it completed.

‘Passmore of Southampton’ have kindly donated a selection of upholstery fabrics. Including some calico, foam backed vinyl & a variety of a sturdy fabric called sunbrella.

You may be surprised by what you will find in The Waterside Scrapstore.
If you enjoy card making or if you are a fan of the Sewing Bee, these books may be just what you are looking for.
We are open today until 12, then on Saturday from 10-12, Monday 3-5 and Wednesday 10-12.
We can’t promise that these particular books and accessories will be available when you visit us but they will be plenty of other great bargains for sale.

With so many different bag sizes now, particularly the Bag For Life category, we thought it would be good to clarify our prices. A bag in similar size to the orange Sainsbury bag would be considered to be a carrier bag and once filled would be charged at £1.50 The blue Co Op bag is what we consider to be a Bag For Life, filling that would cost members £2 The big yellow bag with the beautiful elephant on it, is a sack. So filling that would cost £2.50

Learning about Van Gogh. We love it when schools join the Waterside Scrapstore. So many children benefit and the school saves so much money by buying recycled resources rather than brand new materials.

We have a few beautiful lace making pillows. Some have lace bobbins. These are available in our Scrapstore now.

What a fun afternoon with a lovely group of ladies including lots of new faces. Thank you so much for coming and getting stuck in, we made a great team. Also a big thank you to our volunteers who spent hours cutting out triangles in advance and to Farmers Ian and Louise for providing yummy cake. I think we made the best part of 100m of bunting for Sunnyfields Farm.

Just a quick reminder that our new Saturday opening hours start this coming Saturday - 4th March 2023. We will now be opening The Waterside Scrapstore, sited at Sunnyfields, on Saturdays from 10-12. Our other opening hours remain the same.
