The swallows are coming back. They weigh about 20 grams, but they covered more than 5000 km during the flight. They passed through the Sahara desert. They flew over the Mediterranean without having a break. They fought the rain and wind, and the scorching sun. They are extraordinary little beings. . And now they will live under the roofs of our homes and bear the offspring. Embrace their presence. Be kind to them. Respect them. One swallow can eat up to 850 flies and mosquitoes a day. One pair can kill about 1,700 flies and mosquitoes a day. There is no more effective and ecological insecticide ... Make them feel welcome here

This is my wonderful mama, Rosemary, with my littlest monkey.

Rosemary dedicated most of her life to teaching, and knows only too well how that first term back feels. What she’d have given at times to have a Hobbit Hole to retreat to for some R&R!

For this reason, she’s asked me to invite all you lovely teachers out there who work so passionately for our young people to stay with us over October half term for just £80 a night.

That’s for up to two people with a double bed, private toilet and shower room, amenities, WiFi, heating and a warm welcome. Bottle of wine ready and waiting? No problem 😉

We also welcome furry friends and have bowls, a bed and treats ready and waiting 🐾🤎
