From Porthtowan to Chapel Porth along the coastal path. Returning along the beach to Porthtowan, a walk only possible at low tide.Sunshine, Sand,high cliffs,rock pools,mussels and the Mermaid pool before returning to Number One.

No 1 Beach road is the perfect home and location for a Cornish beach holiday. Myself and my two small children had a fab time, we love Porthtowan and have stayed in many Airbnb's close by this has far been the best.

Mary warned us it might be cold so we went prepared but actually it was all ok. We didn't use much electricity but also we weren’t there during the day. Good amenities and the best location.

Another brief visit to Porthtowan. How the winter weather has changed the beach scape yet again. So many rocks and pebbles. 23 years ago when we discovered beautiful Porthtowan the top half of the beach was sand, very few pebbles and backed by high dunes.

A very busy few days. Access improved, sand dune of a garden re-seeded with grass seed and topsoil and bird scaring,(guess I'm the only person in Cornwall hoping for rain! ) A very misty Cornish evening and silly me went up onto the cliffs side behind The Crow's Nest clearing foliage to find sand filled gutters, must be at least 10 years since I have been up there😃

The weather was sunny and cold for my latest visit to Number One Penventon. Who could resist walking the coastal paths on such a beautiful day! Too early in the year for the beautiful cliff top flowers but plenty of foliage sparkling in the morning light.

An early Autumn visit to NumberOnePenventon. Beautiful skies and an onshore breeze. Sadly there were several dead gannets on the tide line, Avian flu.
The risk to public health is low but if you find a sick or dead wild bird, don’t touch it and please report it to Defra on 03459 33 55 77.
If it’s on council land, please let us know so we can remove it. You can report it here and pinpoint the location: www.cornwall.gov.uk/rubbish-recycling-and-waste/street-cleaning/dead-animals/ There’s an interactive map so you can see if it’s on council land.
If the dead bird is on private land, please report it to the landowner.
If you find a dead bird on your property, if Defra is unable to remove it, please follow Defra’s guidance on how to safely dispose of it found here: www.gov.uk/guidance/avian-influenza-bird-flu

Don’t get cut off by the tide

A beach can seem like a vast playground but the tide can come in surprisingly quickly. To avoid getting cut off by the tide:

Before you head out, make sure it’s safe. Check the tide tables.
While you’re out, be aware of your surroundings and the tide’s direction.
If you do get cut off by the tide, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.

Inflatables

Inflatable toys and airbeds can easily be swept out to sea. Seek advice from lifeguards to check if the beach and conditions are suitable.

If there is an offshore wind, don’t go out on inflatables. On a lifeguarded beach, look out for the orange windsock and don’t use inflatables if it’s flying.

If you do use inflatables at the beach:

Ensure children are closely supervised
Keep near the shore
Only use between the red and yellow flags
Follow the lifeguard’s advice
Do not take out in big waves
Never use them when orange windsock is flying – this indicates offshore winds which will blow inflatables further out to sea.
