Yesterday marked the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.

Here at Trebah Gardens, they witnessed the largest seaborne invasion in combat history. With 7500 young American soldiers, from the 29th Infantry leaving in 10, 150ft flat-bottomed landing craft.

We remember those whose sacrificed their lives to bring the war to an end.

What a May it has been. It’s been so busy, I haven’t found the time to post any of the lovely pictures that have been taken, capturing the experiences had by our guests, until now.

Scenic beauty, endless vistas, scrumptious local food and beer and plenty of history and heritage thrown in for good measure.

Where will your next adventure take you?

There have been some amazing pictures from our friends in Cornwall, from last nights North Light show.

Here are some from the wonderful Watering Hole in Perranporth. A place I have very wonderful memories of growing up and working.

Great to see the dancers at Flora Day were in the sunshine this year.

Such a spectacle to see all the shops adorned with spring flowers and the children dancing to the tune of the drum.

The sun shone on our Scenic South Tour yesterday.

This area of outstanding natural beauty shows off with its hidden coves, beaches, quaint churches and imposing rugged coastline.

The wild flowers were all around, with pink Sea Thrift, blue bells, three cornered leek and Campions dancing in the sea breeze.

The day started with a visit to the historical town of Porthleven, it’s huge harbour is a refuge for vessels when seas are rough. Evident of the power of the ocean is displayed with two cannons either side of its entrance, from the shipwreck HMS Anson, who wrecked off Loe Bar in 1807.
We ending the day at the most Southerly point of the UK at Lizard Point.

What a fabulous 8 days I have had touring Yeongjoo, from South Korea.

We traveled through the Roseland and Lizard Peninsulas, explored our Smuggling East Coast around Polperro and Fowey and our ancient West coast and UNESCO world heritage sites along the Tin Coast, not leaving out the Fantasy North coast at Tintagel and the rugged cliffs of Cornwalls North Coast.

We visited so many wonderful and picturesque places, it has been impossible to pick only a few photos!

Here is a selection from our adventures, touring Cornwall.

Beauty within the storm.

With storms battering our Cornish shores, you might not believe us when we tell you we took all these photos TODAY!

These are the locations we visited today, on an improvised ‘Rugged North’ Tour. We even managed to dodge the rain showers most of the day and tolerate the strong winds.

Watching the waves crashing and wind whipping up the water, with scenic vistas, mining heritage, fishing fleets and historic industrial ports, today has been an exhilarating tour.

What a day in the office. 🤗

The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

These beautiful gardens have been in the Tremayne family for over 400 years. In 1813 John Tremayne married into a plant hunters family, adding fine specimens to their growing gardens.

The walled Melon garden houses the only manure heated Pineapple Pit in the UK, where the team still grow Pineapples today.

It s a fantastic mix of woodland, jungle, edible and walled flower gardens, there is something to see around every corner.

We include a visit to their gardens on our ‘Rural Roseland East Tour’ to discover more and hear about the men of Heligan who wrote their names on the thunder box wall, join us for a guided tour through these fantastic gardens.

It is great to see the colours of Spring.

Happy Easter to you all, wherever you are in the world 🐣

We recently had a short trip to the Lake District. It was evident how our mild climate brings on spring much earlier than the rest of the country.

Incredible images of the Aurora Borealis over West Cornwall last week.

Sadly I missed the dramatic display living on the South Coast, but we are so pleased Cornwall on Camera captured this once in a life time event happening above our beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site on the ‘Tin Coast’.

Gool Perran Lowen.

In the Cornish language means “Happy St Pirans Day”.

Today, on the 5th March, is the day that the Cornish celebrate their heritage, culture and patron saint.
The Cornish identity is unique to any other part of England. An independent Celtic national, with its own ethnic minority and Cornish language.

St Piran was a Christian preacher from Ireland, cast into the sea by a jealous king. He was tied to a granite mill stone and cast into the sea.
Being a man of healing and performing miracles, he floated to Cornwall and landed on Perranporth beach, where he later built an oratory in the 6th century. The chapel is still visible today, although the sand dunes do their best to engulf the building, and now the water is having a go too!

The Cornish are very proud of their heritage. These stunning pictures have been taken by our friend James kitto, who is a fantastic photography and proud Cornish Bard. Jameskittophotography.

His images show many of the sights, smells and sounds that make this County so unique. (if you could smell the yellow Gorse flower, it smells of coconut!)

If you have never been, Cornwall should appear on your to visit list. It won’t let you down.

On a stunning, rugged, coastal walk near Tintagel.

Cornwall has so many hidden gems to discover if you put in a little effort to reach them. This circular walk from Bossiney, takes you along the South West Coast Path, to reach ‘Rocky Valley’.

We caught it high tide, the swell was crashing into the rocks and pushing up the river (Check out our Instagram page for a short video).

We love walks that take in different terrain. To reach the coast path you pass through lush green fields first and as you traverse up the rocky valley back to the road, you will see waterfalls, old mill buildings and carvings in the walls.

If you are able to, we can’t recommend enough to get out on the Coast Path and see where you will discover.

Or, let us create the perfect day tour for you and include something like this, to truly EXPERIENCE CORNWALLS.

We revisited our ‘Rural Roseland Peninsula Tour’ yesterday, making the most of the winter sunshine.

We love bringing guests to this part of Cornwall. It just has so much to offer its visitors.

We started the day by getting the King Harry Ferry across the Carrick Roads estuary, passing a beautiful old sailing vessel, which was moored up just by Trelissick Garden’s jetty.

Then it was onto a 13th century church, hidden from view by its well established gardens, which are full of palms, tree ferns, Magnolia, Rhododendron and Camellia, making it a magnet for wildlife.

From here we coast down to St Mawes, a once thriving boat repair and fishing village, to explore the waters edge with its quaint cottages. A little way up the road sits the impressive Castle, which was built for King Henry VIII to protect these waterways from Invasion.

After all this excitement it’s time for lunch, from the car park at Portscatho, it’s a short walk along the coast path to enjoy some delicious lunch at the Hidden Hut, a must try! Portscatho is also a great place to discover local artists, like the ceramicist who casts mackerel and shells to sell as unique artwork.

As we navigate the narrow country roads, we visit Veryan, an inland village with five quirky, 19th century round houses, which greet you as you enter the village.

To top off this magnificent tour, we end the day at the Lost Hardens of Heligan, arguably one of Cornwall’s top attractions. Despite it being early in the season for the flower and edible gardens, there was still plenty to see, with the Rhododendrons starting to open and the rare breed animals enjoying the sun rays.

If you are thinking of visiting Cornwall, let us enhance your experience by booking a truly memorable day tour with us. Let us bring these places to life, through story telling, history, local knowledge and passion, giving an insight into to all things Cornish and what makes this land so special and unique.

Re visiting our ‘Fantasy North Tour’, as we just can’t get enough of the history and scenic beauty this area offers.

Tintagel Castle is full of myth and legends of Kind Arthur and Merin. 🗡️🧙‍♂️ But did you know that in the 5th and 6th Centuries, people where living on this remote headland, trading with Europe, North Africa and as far East as Turkey. These people were not just surviving, they were thriving. Eating off of fine red tableware and bring back olive oil and red wine.

We bring this area to life, by explaining what went on here through its history and what you can see today.
Discover the remains of the Northern Ruins and take in the breathtaking views up to coast towards Bude and down the coast towards Polzeath, have your picture taken with the statue of a kind and on a low tide, enter the atmospheric cave where Merlin is said to have lived.

These photos were taken last Friday, in some winter sunshine. ☀️

Would you believe us if we told you this is Cornwall, England.

Often referred to as the ‘Cornish Caribbean’ the views of Porthcurno cliffs are truly stunning.

Yesterday, on a family day out in West Penwith, we enjoyed these stunning views, from the newly refurbished cafe at the Minack Theatre. 🎭

Created by the visionary Rowena Cade and her gardener in the 1930’s, she made it her life work to create a theatre here on these exposed cliffs. With the dream of creating a theatre for local drama groups to perform at. Now the theatre welcomes over 230’000 visitors each year, with live performances running throughout a 6 month season.

Our Wild West Tour takes in this must see gem.
Will you add it to your bucket list for 2024.

Our callender is open for private tour booking, so do get in touch to help us start planning your next great adventure.

We love exploring the creeks and tidal estuaries at this time of year. With the trees sparse of leaves, views appear that were once obscured from view.

Here in Cornwall, just South of Falmouth is one of these areas to explore. These landscapes inspired many novels, of which Daphne du Mauriers French Man’s Creek is the most famed.

It is also a great place to see different species of wading birds, such as the grey heron and the white egret. Even Grey seals sometimes venture up into these waterways.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…. Everywhere you go.

The beautiful lights along the harbour at Padstow and the German Bratwurst hut in Truro, all adding to the Christmas feel.

I am still yet to have my roasted chestnuts, then it will definitely feel like Christmas.

Happy festivities to you all.

We didn’t believe them when they said snow might be coming to Cornwall today….. well the weather reporter got the forecast right!

I often tell guests how mild Cornwall is due to the Gulf Stream, explaining that we rarely get heavy frosts and very occasionally snow, well this is two years in a row now that Cornwall has seen snow. Admittedly it’s a bit of a light dusting and will probably all have melted by the morning, but I couldn’t resist heading out and capturing some images for you all to see.

On higher ground around Carn Brea monument, there was definitely enough snow to build a snowman. ⛄️

It does bring the big kid out in me, as this is still a novelty, especially in November!

This time of year is all about finding your new favourite spot to explore. Yesterday, we took a walk to our local woods at Kennel Vale, the water was galloping through the valley, showing some of the best waterfalls Cornwall has to offer.

These woods offer so much, a disused quarry, an abandoned gun powder works, waterfalls, wildlife and native trees (which gave some shelter from the rain) not to mention the fungus and mushrooms. If you have a love for Photography, then this a wonder at this time of year.

🎶All the leaves and Brown…..and the sky is grey 🎶

As the nights get shorter and the air gets colder, find warmth, shelter and colour in nature. A visit to the woods will sure put a smile on your face, whatever the weather.
