S U M M E R S O F A R

Not even NEARLY OVER yet, but we are sadly approaching the end of the official school holidays 😢

It has been VERY LONG on one hand, but I’m also not sure I want it to END - particularly the lazy mornings and slow paced, free spirited, beach days….an existence I have come to really enjoy

I know it can’t go on forever and a return to routine will probably be good for us all

But, I also just want to hang on to those last few moments of simple living, where our biggest decision, tends to be working out, when the next high tide falls 🌊

So thought we’d share just a bit of summer so far ☀️ 🏖️ 🏄‍♂️

It’s never the end, just another set of happy memories made and banked. Always with a tinge of excitement about what’s still to come 🫶

NEWQUAY

In just a 30min drive from The Boltholes, you will find the ever popular, seaside town, of Newquay

Yes there is still the touristy, slightly kiss me quick element to the town (it was actually the first ever holiday I had without family, when I was 17, where I spent a LOT of my time in Sailors nightclub!), but, in recent years, Newquay has undergone quite the transformation

Now home of a fabulous surf scene, that gently marries a bustling centre with a wealth of shops, bars and indie style cafes and restaurants - plus some pretty fabulous seafront dining options

Our favourite part however, is perhaps the choice of beaches you have to explore

REMAINING AVAILABILITY 🏖️

As we still don’t have our own website (entirely Lou’s fault for being a snail like 🐌 perfectionist) we thought you might like a quick update on what we have remaining this Summer ☀️

🏠 The Lodge (sleeps 4+1)

Our largest property and often considered our Family Bolthole. Whilst being spacious enough to house 5, it is still equally comfortable for couples looking for home from home comfort

It has the following dates remaining:
- 12th-19th July (independent school hols)
- 19th-26th July (state school hols)
- 30th Aug-6th Sept (overlaps with back to school)

🏡 The Summerhouse (sleeps 2+2)

Our gorgeous and ever popular Summerhouse cabin is all about outdoor/indoor living, with its huge covered deck and glorious valley views. BBQ and Firepit area plus the added bonus of an entirely off grid wood fired hot tub

It is a beautifully appointed and surprisingly spacious cabin, with a double bed (and space for a travel cot) and the addition of a king sized sofa bed in the open plan living space

It has the following dates remaining:
- 21st-28th June
- 5th-12th July
- 19th-26th July
- 9th-16th August
- 30th Aug-6th September

🏡 The Nook (sleeps 2)

Our brilliantly bijoux courtyard studio, is a cosy & beautifully appointed getaway, for solo travellers and couples alike

It features a double bedroom and independent living/dining/kitchen space, that opens up to it’s own private, suntrap courtyard

It has the following dates remaining:
- 26th July-2nd August
- 2nd-9th August
- 16th-23rd August

May Moments

May has DELIVERED and given us some gorgeous weather ☀️ which to us = more outside 🌳 and beach 🏖️ time 🙌

Just a few stills of moments (in no particular order) over the last month:

1. When your guests arrive with Paddle Boards, you KNOW they are going to have a a good time 🙌

2. Sneaky evening beers on the beach, in unexpected sunshine ☀️

3. Someone is FINALLY back to football (post a torrid year of a horrible growth syndrome called Osgood Schlatter - IYKYK 🙈)

I know some people don’t like competitive sport for kids, but i’m not kidding when I say, playing sport is literally LIFE for this one and it is both his greatest love and something that makes him infinitely happy 😊

4. Evening picnic views on the south coast (for Ben’s birthday) - love how easy it is to get out for a quick beach picnic after school with the kids

5. A little corner at The Boltholes

6. SW Coastal Path Tromping 🥾 with the ultimate four legged chum - Lola dog 🐶

7. The Lodge - waiting for its latest guests to arrive

8. We always know a dog friendly beach - no matter what the season

9. Seafood sharing platter - date night (whilst big bro and Daddy were in Germany) with my wee man. George did a sterling job on polishing the lot off! 😋

10. Helping hands at The Boltholes - the deal is, if we all want to keep living here, everyone HAS to help. The big one is pretty good at this - the small one….less so! 😂

JUST A MOMENT

But a blink’in important one for me

Life has felt like a bit of a grind just lately, but last night, well, it proved to be just what we needed

- our biggest boy, FINALLY got to play in a warm up match for his forthcoming Germany Football ⚽️ tour (he has had a veeerrry long term injury that has meant he has had to miss out on SO MUCH of the thing he loves, over the last 6 months)

- whilst he warmed up, Ben, myself and the wee one snatched a MOMENT in the dunes at Perranporth beach

- we grabbed a couple of beers, watched the sun drop in the sky, whilst the small one ran around like a loon in the dunes

- I felt the sun ☀️ on my face, could hear the sound of the waves and distant children’s laughter and then got to watch my eldest play football 🫶

- it was HEAVEN 💫

Sometimes in life it’s the SIMPLE THINGS, the UNEXPECTED and the STOLEN MOMENTS that matter the most

HI FROM LOU 👋 One half of The Boltholes Not the biggest fan of putting my face on here, but figured it was probably time to do another little intro, for the benefit of all our new followers I moved to Blankednick Farm, with my husband Ben and our two nutty boys, back in 2021 after a long search for a property, that we felt ticked all the boxes as the perfect spot for a Cornish holiday let business - cue the birth of @blankednickboltholes We were joined by our rescue dog, Lola, 6 months later who definitely helped complete our little family unit We’ve been trucking away as ‘tourism newbies’ for the past couple of years and 2023 marks our 3rd season of being open for business Of course there have been challenges along the way and more than a few bumps in the road, and there is ALWAYS a seemingly NEVER ENDING list of jobs ‘to do’, but I can honestly say that life has just got better and better since we moved here and there is NO WHERE I would rather spend my days The walks around The Boltholes and the views I get to wake up to EVERY DAY genuinely feed my soul in a way I can’t even begin to articulate AND living this close to the sea 🌊 is simultaneously the most calming and invigorating thing I could ever wish to do I NEVER take it for granted and wake up every day, knowing how lucky I am to live here and to get to do what i do for a living So a hi, welcome and thank you, to any of our new followers.
