Meet the skippers ⚓️ Gorm & Helene, owners and skippers of historic ship Aron of Svendborg.

Born in Denmark, they have both been sailing for most of their lives and continue to pass on their traditional sailing knowledge to their sea-loving children.

Helene was raised on board a two-masted ketch, before spending 15 years on board large charter and school ships. Her vast experience guiding sailors ensures that all guests sail in confidence, even if they are complete beginners! Gorm has also sailed since childhood, and his years at sea make him supreme at reading the weather and handling the ship in all situations.

This World Mental Health Day we’re highlighting the effects of ‘Blue Therapy’ 🌊

Spending time on the water is proven to reduce stress, and increase positive mood. As an ‘always on’ society, it can be really hard to find ways to switch off. This is where being at sea truly comes into its own and our guests find that climbing aboard they experience a subtle psychological shift, stepping off land, onto the water and away from it all. No longer physically connected to life ashore, we begin to unwind. Casting off and setting sail there is a true sense of having escaped, leaving anxieties and troubles behind.
Friends new and old create a community on board our sailing adventures, all taking the time to appreciate the world around us. On this World Mental Health Day we want to celebrate all our hard-working crews that give our guests the chance of some 'Blue Therapy', and for those charities that work tirelessly for a better understanding of all mental health issues and providing support to those that need it most 🙏🙌 .
