Almost a year ago to the day my world turned upside down with the news that my Mother had an aggressive form of lukeamia. Supporting a close family member through a terminal illness has been profoundly challenging but I feel privileged to have been helped along the way by some of the amazingly empathetic and supportive NHS palliative care consultants and nurses.
I’ve struggled at times to find beauty and light to share with you. Though I’m immensely proud of everyone who’s enabled us to keep the show on the road and now with a little space and time passed I’m missing sharing this beautiful part of the country we call home.
So, this is Cornwall, in the midst of Winter at Porthmellin Head where I sought perspective and serenity.

September.
One of the best months to stay with us.
But don't just take my word for it.
We have a few nights left in September for you to soak up the last of the summer sun and feel the sand between your toes.

It would be fair to say the weather is a bit iffy at the moment but those moments between the rain are magic.
PS I think I have at least 4 conversations about the weather a day 🙈
Friday night paddle.
We’ve a few nights left in July including a couple of two night breaks.
Get in touch if you fancy starting your weekend off this way!

Monday morning peace from the weeding round!
It was like Piccadilly Circus!
Went to watch the start of the AZAB (Azores and back) race.
It's the largest yacht race in the UK, for single handed or pairs, from Falmouth straight to Azores Island - Party - Sail back!
Sounds so much fun!

Sometimes you just have to peel yourself out of bed and get to the beach.
Totally worth it.
It’s taken years (not exaggerating) to get a shot of this in flight. It really shouldn’t of done as it’s regularly snacking on our fish 🤦♀️
There’s quite a bit of wildlife for you to spot in the garden while you’re here: hedgehogs, lizards, stoat, voles, moorhen, ducks, kingfisher, dragon flies and of course the heron! Oh and the occasional deer! Oh and not to mention the garden birds…..
Ending the week with blooms and birdsong!
Happy Friday 😊
Oh hello!
A little company on our walk this morning.
Feeling more like Spring everyday and the afternoon light is really stretching out now.
Beautiful walks this week making the most of the super low spring tide - I think the beach was about 1/2 mile wide!
More pics and vids on Instagram, sadly facebook says 1 is enough!
Here hoping for plenty more sunshine this weekend.
Happy Friday 😊

Not a bad way to start the week!
Actual heaven on earth.
It’s our ‘secret beach’. It’s like this most of time, well definitely this beautiful, and often this quiet.
We share all our favourites places, beaches, restaurants, cosy pubs, farm shops and much more, with you before you arrive.
There’s also a pretty great selection of suggested days out!
I was told last week it was the most helpful pre-arrival information someone had ever received!
Twixmas. The perfect opportunity to do nothing?
Gorgeous winter light at the moment. Enjoying every minute of sunshine and peace and quiet - calm before the storm - if you’re in need of a restful few nights there’s two lovely places ready and waiting!

Autumn, low sun, crunchy leaves, tractors, apple crumble, chutney making, pickling, wood chopping and stacking. There's something comforting about the traditions that prepare us for winter.
Autumn - love it or hate it? Do you have a favourite autumn tradition?
