A lot of visitors may not realise that our beautiful beach never stays the same! Depending on the tides and the weather, the pebbly areas change as the sand shifts around to different spots. Interesting today though how much the river has changed its course. My doggo Wanda approves by the looks of it 😂

Ok, weather is turning colder and nights are drawing in, so if you want to start planning ahead to brighter times, our 2025 booking calendars are open!
Choose from 3 lovely properties in the friendly little coastal village of PORTHTOWAN. Located on the north Cornish coast, in the middle of the beautiful South West Coastal Path, in between Portreath and St Agnes, Porthtowan is hugely popular with surfers and bodyboarders. It has a wonderful Blue Flag-awarded beach, which exposes lots of lovely golden sand when the tide is out, as well as the sea-water pool over the rocks, locally known as the 'Mermaid Pool'. Much quieter than the likes of Newquay/Perranporth/St Ives but with plenty of amenities and in a great central location to explore all that Cornwall has to offer. The village has a wonderful village shop, a hairdressers, a lovely cafe (under new ownership and often offering Friday theme nights!), and a couple of much-loved bars/restaurants, with another great pub at the top of the hill, a takeaway chippy, a choice of two surf hire/surf school places and even a nail/beauty salon! There is also a great playpark for the children to enjoy, which has just had a refurbishment and is looking great!
Two of our properties are pet-friendly ('Anchor Point' and 'The Little Mermaid') and the other ('The Dunes') is pet-free to cater for our guests with allergies.

Due to last minute change of circumstances, we are re-offering a fabulous opportunity of an EXTENDED WINTER HOLIDAY STAY at 'The Little Mermaid' in PORTHTOWAN! Ideal for someone who perhaps works from home and fancies life by the sea for a little while. Or perhaps someone who is looking to move to Cornwall and would like to use this as a great central base to explore?
Glazed doors lead from decking area into cute open plan living area. This then leads to main double bedroom, which then accesses through to bathroom (shower). Upstairs there are two single beds. Around the back of the property you will find a charming little slate-shingle garden.
Located a couple of mins walk from the beautiful SW Coastal Path, 'The Little Mermaid' is walking distance down to the award-winning beach, and also to the friendly village, with lovely eateries and lots of amenities inc a great shop. The property also has an allocated parkng space.

First winter opening hours for our lovely new cafe owners 😊

A few updates for our winter opening hours

Monday-Friday
9am - 3pm (Food served till 3pm)

(Monday & Tuesdays no Hot food except Pasties and homemade sausage rolls available)

Friday theme nights will be on going through winter except we will be closed on the evening of Friday 29th November.

Saturday-Sunday 9am - 4pm
(Sunday’s being roast by the coast days 😋)

Please note
We will be closed on Monday 02nd & Tuesday 03rd December for maintenance.
