What a fantastic day the CT Business Travel team had yesterday in sun-soaked Tonbridge. We were proud to have supported the Tonbridge Lions Dragon Boat Race, a fundraising and community event where all proceeds are donated to local charities and good causes.

We brought our A-game, and while CT Dragons didn’t take first place, we displayed teamwork at its finest, winning one of our heats and shaving 10 seconds off our original time! It was wonderful to see so many of our colleagues, friends, and family members coming out to support us. Their cheers from the sidelines really made all the difference.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and to those who worked behind the scenes to organise this event.

Starting from the 10th November, the EU will roll out its new Entry/Exit System (EES), bringing changes to the way you travel. Here's what you need to know:

🔸Non-EU passport holders will submit biometric data, travel dates, and passport information
🔸 No more manual passport stamping
🔸 Self-service border kiosks designed to streamline the process

At CT Business Travel, we've put together a simple guide to help you navigate these EES changes, as well as prepare for the upcoming European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), which is set to roll out in 2025 (exact date to be announced). ✈️

Our Senior Marketing Executive Pippa Smithers was lucky enough to win The BTA’s competition to enjoy a tour of British Airways Integrated Operation Control (IOC) at Waterside HQ!

The day began with Commercial Account Manager Dave O'Grady leading a fascinating tour of Waterside, before we made our way up to the IOC department. We were welcomed by Shazad Hussain, Senior Manager at Operations Control, who invited us into BA’s nerve centre.

Shazad explained how the fast-paced, multi-team floor works in perfect unison, managing the intricate planning of hundreds of flights a day and ensuring schedule targets are met. The focused atmosphere and state-of-the-art technology were truly impressive.

We also learnt about some of British Airways' exciting future plans. With a £7 billion investment, the airline will see significant developments in areas including operations, its route network, its fleet, the continued rollout of its new Club Suite, and BA Better World - its programme to create a more sustainable future.

Our visit concluded with a tour of The Heritage Centre, which showcases the rich history of British Airways - from vintage aircraft and evolving staff uniforms to the latest fleet and seating innovations.

Thank you to Dave O’Grady, Shazad Hussain and Ivana Macura for this behind-the-scenes experience! It was a real privilege.

With this partnership, we have actively chosen to support a key supplier as they look to transition from the use of conventional fossil fuel to Sustainable Aviation Fuel, supporting and contributing towards their journey to address the global ecological challenges facing the aviation and wider travel industry.

As a business we have chosen to take these steps to support and collaborate with Air France – KLM and we hope this encourages other industry partners to do the same.

CT Business Travel are thrilled that the US has lifted its pre-departure Covid-19 testing requirement for international travel.

This is another step in the right direction for our industry and we hope to see all countries with remaining restrictions remove these in due course to encourage international travel once more.
