The Llanfendigaid Estate has been owned by the Nanney-Wynn family and their forebears since the earliest records began in AD 1241. An estate map from 1780 shows that the original estate stretched along the Welsh coast from Harlech in the north to Aberystwyth in the south. However, since the collapse of many of the great British estates in the 1920s, Llanfendigaid Estate has gradually reduced in si

ze to a much smaller patch in the Snowdonia National Park on one of the most attractive stretches of the Welsh coastline. We have four exceptional properties available, all of which have recently been listed by CADW as Grade II* which is only given to historic houses of exceptional interest and quality. All properties have shared use of a 28' x 14' indoor heated swimming pool. There is ultra-fast broadband available throughout.

The beautiful Tal-y-llyn lake. So simply beautiful.

Only a 20 minute drive from Llanfendigaid and a perfect spot for a dip or beverage of choice at the lovely perhaps after a walk up Cadair Idris!

Hi Everybody,

We are thrilled to have recently grown our Instagram account to over 5,000 human beings!

5,000 of you are following our journey and hopefully planning on making your own memories at the beautiful Llanfendigaid Estate.

Thank you so much for being here, all of you.

Gareth and I became the proud and grateful current custodians of Llanfendigaid just less than 2 years ago. Gareth is the one making the big plans and getting things over the line and I’m here making reels, in charge of interiors and the overall guest experience.

Barley is the cute one. He is a big hairy bear, dream dog and Llanfendigaid’s very own mascot. You will often see him struting his stuff, chasing rabbits and rolling over for belly rubs.

Together, I think we make a pretty good team.

We hope you enjoy being a part of our community, and if there is anything you would like to see us post more of, then please do tell us!

Had the loveliest conversation with a guest at Llanfendigaid, who, after four years, embarked on a solo holiday here. We got lost in discussing the indescribable essence of this place.

It’s a sensation of peace, an unassuming calmness.
Every sound, every little detail—the tractor’s distant hum, the train passing by, the sheep in the fields, the laughter of children in the gardens - all embraced by the profound silence that follows.

It’s a space that beckons you to dive deeper within yourself, a quiet warmth that fills your heart with care and love.

The stages of Stable Cottage over the last 18 months…

Swipe across to see how it started when we took over the estate in March 2022, perfectly functional however very beige. Quickly we filled it with cushions, throws and anything we could find that added colour before redecorating earlier this year, choosing a beautiful granite green by , restoring the fireplace back to a pitch black and adding lots more cushions, pictures and jars of flowers.

Paw-fectly positioned on the Welsh coast, surrounded by some of the best walks in Snowdonia National Park, The Llanfendigaid Estate was made for dog-friendly adventures.

Take your pick from Llanfendigaid House, The Cow Shed, Dove Cottage and Stable Cottage which all welcome two dogs.
And keep an eye out for Barley, he’s super friendly and is always happy to recommend a favourite local walk or two.

There's a new children's TV show airing on S4C set entirely on the Talyllyn. The Talyllyn Railway is a narrow gauge preserved railway running from Tywyn station, a ten minute walk from Llanfendigaid, into southern Snowdonia. Tune in on 30th August (or catch up on BBC iPlayer) to follow train driver Cadi and two funny, inquisitive and mischievous dragons on their adventures.

Visit one of the oldest independent cinemas in the UK - The Magic Lantern. Just a 10 minute drive away from Llanfendigaid, you’ll find a range of films, events and worskshops suitable for all ages.

We’re sure you’ll agree no cinema experience is the same without snacks. Opt for some popcorn and choose from a huge selection of yummy toppings (M&M’s are a favourite of ours).

It’s dog-friendly too, as is Sundowners - their very own bar offering a range of lovely cocktails or mocktails.

Wales is one the world’s greatest destinations for stargazing, especially Snowdonia National Park being one of only 18 ‘International Dark Sky Reserves’ worldwide.

shows us how incredible the night sky can look above from The Cantilever on Glyder Fach. But if you’d prefer to enjoy the constellations from the comfort of your holiday home, we have one fairly powerful resident telescope for guests to use, or admire the view through the glass roof directly above the bed in the Shepherd’s Hut – you’ll be spellbound.

No holiday in Wales is complete without a trip to a castle - and there are over 800 in Wales to choose from. This is one of our favourites, Castell-y-Bere, a dramatic ruin at the foot of Cadair Idris. Or head up the coast to Harlech to combine castles with incredible views and sandy beaches.

Treat yourself and your favourite person to a short stay in one of our smaller retreats - The Pod or The Shepherd’s Hut this autumn. Lazy mornings, waking up to the sound of nature in one of the most beautiful parts of Wales. We promise you won’t regret it!

Fancy a few nights on the beautiful Welsh coast? Somewhere where you can slow down, switch off and reconnect? The Shepherd’s Hut is available Friday 22nd - Monday 25th September, or there’s still plenty of availability in October when you can cosy up near the log burner, and lazy mornings are guaranteed.

One of nine beautiful bedrooms in Llanfendigaid House, which are all traditionally decorated with wood panelling, pretty details, and places where you can stop, take a break and enjoy a moment of calm. We love the chaise lounge in this room. Start your morning here with the window wide open and the sound of birdsong, before getting on with your day.

We don’t have a favourite property here at Llanfendigaid. But if we had to choose one to spend a lazy Monday morning in, it might just be this one. Stable cottage sleeps four in a double and twin bedroom, and is dog friendly. How are you spending your morning?

A new addition to our main house outdoor area is our butterfly and bee garden. As well as being a beautiful place to enjoy your morning coffee, or the last rays of the evening sun (as well as an occasional resting place for Barley 🐶, can you spot him?) the pollen-rich flowers and plants that have been mindfully planted, attract these lovely little insects that are a crucial part of our eco-system.

A long luxurious meal followed by board games in the dining room, or a BBQ in the private courtyard? The choice is yours at The Cow Shed. Sleeping six, it’s the perfect place to stay with family or friends, with plenty of room for everyone.

The summer holidays are in full swing, but you can still find moments of calm here at The Llanfendigaid Estate. Nothing beats an early morning walk to our bench seat overlooking the beautiful Welsh coast, and taking a few deep breaths of salty sea air before starting the day.

Guests have shared use of a 28' x 14' indoor heated swimming pool and there is ultra-fast broadband available throughout the estate (with dedicated leased line technology providing 100MBs). It’s just a short stroll to the beach as well.
