✨️FUN FACT FRIDAY✨️

I'm still not quite out of holiday mode 😆 so here's a fun fact about the island I stayed on.... 🤩

Lanzarote is the northernmost and easternmost island of the main Canary Islands and has a volcanic origin.🌋 The island emerged about 15 million years ago as product of the Canary hotspot. The island, along with others, emerged after the breakup of the African and the American continental plates. The greatest recorded eruptions occurred between 1730 and 1736 in the area now designated Timanfaya National Park.
Lanzarote is synonymous with volcanoes🌋, lava fields, rocks in impossible shapes, black and red earth🌏 that contrasts with the typical whitewashed houses🤍, the deep blue sea🌊 and the light blue sky.

Morning all and Happy Wednesday! 👋

I'm back from my week away, and what a week it was! 🤩
We stayed in an INCREDIBLE 4 bedroom villa with a huge pool🏊‍♂️, hot tub, pool table🎱, table tennis🏓.....it really had everything! There was even a rattan storage box with pool toys/floats, so the kids had an absolute blast! 😍

The location was spot on too. A 5 minute walk from the villa was Faro Park where a couple of mini-markets🛍, some restaurants🍴 a cafe☕️ and bar🍻 were located. We didn't need to go to a big supermarket as the mini-markets had everything we needed.
Beach🏖 was close by, although we didn't visit it this year. And there was a convenient bus stop🚏 that offered a circular route to Playa Blanca and the marina from outside the shop.

I've added some images of the villa below, it really is stunning. Sleeps up to 8 people, and plenty of space for 2 families to share and not feel cramped. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧👨‍👩‍👦‍👦
If you're looking for something smaller, there are 2 identical sister villas in the same area, but offer 3 bedrooms instead of 4.👌

Considering I am visiting this amazing site today, I felt it apt to provide my fun fact on it this morning! 🤩

Did you know..... Steaks and fish are cooked on volcanic rock in Lanzarote National Park?? 🤔

Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National Park is in the heart of the area affected by volcanic erruptions in the 1700’s. The amazing volcanoes🌋 and surreal lava fields are a must see. One of the most interesting things you can see and experience is the cooking of steaks 🥩 and fish 🐟 on layers of volcanic rock heated by the lava underground🌋. A demonstration of the geothermic activity is performed by throwing water💦 into the ground resulting in a sensational geyser of steam♨️!

I'd be no good as a stingray... anyone who knows me knows I have a slight obsession when it comes to food and I need to see what I'm eating! 👀 👀
I have to examine it before I eat it. 🤣🧐 I'm sure it's a very painful experience for anyone who eats out with me. 😂😂

Another lovely day today, this time in Alesund. Not as pretty as Olden (Olden is my favourite place so far) but we did a little land train 🚞 around the town, and stopped at the top of Aksla 🏔 which had spectacular views over the town. Off to Haugsund tomorrow for our final port day. ☺️

Good morning from Olden, Norway! 🇳🇴 I just had to share this STUNNING view we woke up to this morning as we cruised through the Fjords. 😍 So unbelievably peaceful and beautiful. Currently 'queuing' virtually for our table for breakfast and then we'll be heading off for our trip, the Loen Skylift. 🏔 I'll share some more images later. 💚

Happy Easter Everyone! 🐣🐰 We started the day with an Easter hunt around the house and then a lovely family walk. Hope you all have a fantastic day today. 🥰

What a day!! 🤩 I feel so privileged to have been invited to visit Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Balmoral ship. 🛳 We enjoyed coffee☕️ and freshly baked pastries🥐 in the Observatory which had a panoramic view out to the ocean🌊. This was followed by a guided tour of the ship, including a selection of cabin and suite types, entertainment venues💃, dining venues🍴 and activity areas🃏. A 3 course lunch followed our tour, which was then finished with an informative presentation where I learnt so much about this amazing cruise line.🎓 I cannot thank the team enough for what was an amazing day, full of education, good food and impeccable service. 👌
