Although we have passed the longest day and are still waiting for summer, this means that there are only two public Rayne Heritage tours remaining! Why not join our knowledgeable guides on an enjoyable walk around the picturesque village of Rayne, and hear about some of its notable inhabitants? Each tour starts at 10:00 am and lasts around two hours, followed by refreshments at the Booking Hall Cafe. The remaining dates are Saturday 27 July and 17 August. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.

Rayne Heritage is delighted to announce the return of our Guided Tours around Rayne, Essex. Our small group tours focus on both the history of the village and the notable inhabitants. For example, Eliza Vaughan - who lived on The Street, was a local historian, Suffragist and Parish Clark. Dates for the public tours are on the Rayne Heritage website, and run from May to August. If any groups would like a private tour, please contact us via the enquiry form on the website or DM us via Facebook.

Christmas is fast approaching, with the Christmas Tree Festival making a welcome return to All Saints Church, Rayne. Santa will be making a special visit on Sunday 10 December. Children will be able to meet him and receive a gift. Tickets should be bought in advance from Eventbrite.

Rayne Heritage is delighted to announce that we are finalists in the East of England Tourism Awards 2021-2022. Being selected is a wonderful validation of all the hard work put in by our volunteers and the quality of the output. The winners will be announced at IWM Duxford on 24 February 2022.

Happy New Year, everyone! We are just over a week away from finding out whether Rayne Heritage has been selected as a finalist for the East of England Tourism Awards 2021. We entered in the New Tourism category. To have reached this stage is a nice tribute to the efforts of our volunteers, but to reach the final would be amazing!

The Rayne Heritage entry for the All Saints Christmas Tree Festival, courtesy of Roman. Having a penguin on top of the tree instead of a fairy is certainly a different approach!
We hope that everyone is able to have an enjoyable Christmas and that 2022 is a better year for all. Our guided tours will start again in April.

As we approach Remembrance Day, the Rayne Heritage project is pleased to announce that we have updated material for the Great War. This includes a new version of "The Men of Rayne" by Ian and Beryl Whiteside. This is now divided into three parts due to the addition of photographs, along with additional text. Ian Reynolds has also kindly provided his photographic record of how the Commemorative Stone was sourced, transported and installed on Rayne Hall Green.
