Some of you may know that I used to make my living as a painter before coming to France.
I don’t often put my work up on Instagram as to be honest I haven’t had much time with all the renovations and and the running of Maison D’Artiste, but it feels like it’s time to invest a bit more of me in making things again, so here goes…
I’m going to be putting my work up here from time to time to encourage me to get back to it!

These are my latest pieces, inspired by the flowers we grow in the gardens around the houses:

1. Cornflowers from the garden
2. Oak and ash
3. Blue thistles from the field garden
4. Blackbird

Lino cut, papercut collage, with French Histoire De Brigitte and paint.
Approx 14 x 22cm on torn edged, textured, hand made Indian paper.

The upstairs hallway is close to completion. The collombage walls have been built, plastered and painted and for the last few days I’ve been working on renovating the window.
We’re keeping the original glass with all its lovely imperfections.
The tiles on the sill are next on the list, and then we’ll be adding some terracotta below in the inset.

Over the weekend Mark started making a new oak door for the new bedroom in our house. It’s made from locally sourced oak and will be pegged. The fittings are hand forged and the door will complete the new collombage wall he built that divides the new bedroom and bathroom. A walk down the drive. All these roses were planted as cuttings about 6 years ago, they came from our old house.
