Being outside in nature is really important to us. 🍃 Research shows increased time spent outdoors improves mood, generates happiness and encourages greater engagement with the natural world. Nature can generate so many positive feelings such as calmness, joy, creativity, and even helps improve concentration whilst lowering anxiety and depression levels.
That’s why when creating Starlight Hideaway we wanted our guests to feel immersed and connected with nature giving them a feeling of serenity. A chance to get away from the hustle bustle of life which we all get sucked into. A reminder of how going back to basics and spending time outside can really help, with of course a little bit of luxury 💫

One of my favourite things about summer is being able to eat outside. When we created Starlight Hideaway, we wanted the outside space to be just as inviting as the inside. Cobbled pathways, lots of greenery & flowers to make you feel hidden from the outside world. Whether you have your morning coffee and toast on the steps of the hut, around the fire pit, or sat on the grass with our cosy throws, outside dining is the perfect way to start the day! ☀️☕️🌸💫

It’s hard to imagine how this area looked in January last year as so much has changed. It was really a wild, blank canvas with grass, weeds and some unruly trees!
I walked around the Hideaway today, with the flowers blooming and the apple trees in beautiful pink blossom, looking at what we have created. ✨
We are so grateful to the wonderful guests who have supported us with their visits over the last 12 months. We’ve absolutely loved meeting and hosting every one of you at our special little corner of Yorkshire! 💕

The flowers are in full bloom in the SH garden today! Our parents are keen gardeners & last year planted lots of bulbs to make the garden look prettier than ever for the months ahead. 😍
There is something so calming about being in nature, with the smell of flowers and freshly cut grass!
We have a rare night free in the hut this evening so have decided to get the log burning hot tub roaring & go for a dip! Have a lovely evening! 💕✨

I love the feeling of the sun shining in through the shepherd hut windows, & seeing the green leaves appearing on the trees, Spring is nearly here and we cannot wait!
When the sun finally appeared after lots of rainy weather, it felt like Spring had come early.
With the little flowers appearing in the shepherds hut garden & the, sun shining through the skylight gave me all the feels, I couldn’t resist in taking a picture. ☀️💕💫

January & February for me can be months where I feel my least productive, with the darker days & the cold harsh weather, I find inspiration harder to come by. Who is with me?
This year I am going to make a conscious effort to appreciate the things these months do have to offer. The beautiful sunrises, the crisp & fresh mornings, getting cosy, time for self care and looking at goals for the year ahead.
I’ve come to realise that seasons are so important for us as well as nature, and every season is purposeful and beautiful in its own way. What are your favourite things about this time of year?

We love the beach! One of our favourite beaches is Kilnsea, just a few miles from the hut. Winter sunrises here are spectacular and you don’t need to set the alarm either! For super early birds (like Barnaby here), you also have a lovely golden hour on summer mornings too.
