The cabins are really a series of curated connective moments with the outdoors. Places of reflection are linked through passive elements such as the use of volume and materiality to blur the lines between inside and outside. As such, they are as much an active extension of the outdoors as a refuge.

What this equates to in reality are cabins that are for all manner of people - from windburn, salt-cracked, sun-kissed faces to those who just want to decompress from the hustle of modern life in peace, watching the birds and the light play through the canopy.

Every design decision, from initial concept to construction, has been influenced by their cultural, geographical and environmental surroundings.

Exploring themes such as emotional minimalism, distraction-free luxury and environmental connection allowed the cabins to be incredibly expressive yet materially - and spatially - very elemental.

The use of simple shapes, materials and volumes allows for clean lines which contrast beautifully against the vivaciousness of the surrounding micro and macro environment.

“We’ve had the perfect getaway weekend at Trees at Tughall. We loved curling up by the stove, watching the calm and peaceful scenery through the large bay windows.

With plenty of beach walks to do nearby, we had an absolute blast, we will definitely be back.”

Three nights as Trees at Tughall in a winter wonderland.

After leaving the noise and chaos of the week behind us, the darkness settled in as we drove deeper into the Northumberlandcountryside. Nestled among the trees, the cabin lights literally twinkled though the trees at us, (unbelievably) the northern lights danced above and snow crispy crunched underfoot - Is this actually real?! It was one of those secret places you really wished you knew about, or salivate enviously over on someone else’s Instagram photos and here it was in real life. A weekend of simplicity lay ahead, no clutter and no noise, no decisions and no people. Bliss.
All we had to do was cosy up next to the fire, and read.
The next morning I had coffee with a kingfisher, and watched the sunrise through the huge glass windows that plonk you full on in nature. You’re embedded in nature here, it’s all around you. Deer grazing next door, birds flitting around, a small harvest mouse scurrying through the frozen grass. I could have sat at the window all day.

The cabins have everything you need and most importantly no clutter, everything is beautifully simplistic in design and ex*****on.

“Although we had seen some photographs of the cabin our first impresions were of delight at this perfectly formed little jewell.

Although small in footprint, it felt spacious and full of light. This was due to the open plan layout and large windows carefully located to capture the surrounding landscape.

The surrounding area was full of interest and made for a really enjoyable stay.“
