📍Chee Dale Stepping Stones, Buxton, Peak District

The Chee Dale stepping stones walk in the Peak District starts from Miller’s Dale Car Park, then goes down the Monsal Trail, bends around the River Wye towards the two sets of stepping stones. Finally, the walk goes up in to the Chee Dale Valley before looping back down towards the Monsal Trail once again.

Make sure you get a get map as it can be quite tricky to find, and we had zero phone signal there for most of the walk.

In heavy rain the Chee Dale Stepping Stones are often submerged in water, so plan this walk for when the weather has been dry.

*Starting point address*
Miller’s Dale car park, Wormhill, Buxton, SK17 8SN

Parking was £5 for the day

📍Griffin Observatory, 2800 E Observatory Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90027, United States

Griffith Observatory is located Los Angeles, California on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. With views of the Los Angeles Basin including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. The observatory is a popular tourist attraction with a close view of the Hollywood Sign and an extensive array of space and science-related displays.

Over 7 million people have been able to view through the 12-inch (30.5 cm) Zeiss refractor since the observatory's 1935 opening; this is the most people to have viewed through any telescope.

Admission to the building and grounds of Griffith Observatory is free of charge. Planetarium shows at the Observatory are offered eight times a day on weekdays and ten times a day on weekends. A small fee is charged for admission to the planetarium shows. As long as the weather permits, the Observatory offers free public telescope viewing every night the observatory is open. This includes the historic Zeiss Telescope on the roof, and up to four portable telescopes placed outside offering views of visible celestial objects for the night.

📍Hafod Estate Pont-rhyd-y-groes, Cwmystwyth, Ystrad Meurig SY25 6DX

There is number of different routes around the estate to suit all fitness levels. I took the the blue route (lady’s route) until I got to the a bridge then onto the red route (men’s route) which was strenuous but well worth it for the views, you can stay on the red route all the way till you come back to the blue route or you can branch onto the green then the yellow for the complete walk (about 17km). When you get into the car park there is a map of all the routes, an there is pocket maps you can take (for a small donation). Apart from that it’s all free of charge.

Hafod Uchtryd, 12 miles south-east of Aberystwyth, is recognised as one of the finest examples in Europe of a Picturesque landscape.
Its most celebrated owner, Thomas Johnes (1748-1816), built a new house in this remote location and laid out its grounds in a manner suited to displaying its natural beauties in sympathy with the 'Picturesque principles' fashionable at the time, with circuit walks allowing the visitor to enjoy a succession of views and experiences. Johnes also used the land for farming, forestry, and gardening, in each case trying out new ideas and experimental methods. Hafod became an essential destination for the early tourist in Wales. Today the Hafod estate occupies some 200 hectares of the Ystwyth valley and surrounding hills

Devils Bridge Falls

Devils Bridge Falls is a world famous tourist attraction in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains and 12 miles from the seaside town of Aberystwyth . These unique waterfalls have attracted many thousands of visitors since the 18th century, including William Wordsworth who wrote about the “Torrent at the Devil’s Bridge”. Today, the Falls Nature Trail provides a unique opportunity to see this great natural feature in the Rheidol Gorge.

This one is not for the faint hearted... as it’s a quite difficult walk with is 675 steep uneven natural stone steps.

The pictures don’t really do it justice, but it is must see and it’s next to the Hafod Estate (check my other post).

Prices
£4 for Adults
£2.50 for kids

This walk takes minimum of 45 minutes.

📍 Porth Dyniewaid Angel Bay, 116 Penrhyn Beach E, Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno LL30 3RW

An inlet on Little Orme’s Headland, Angel Bay is a bay located on the North Wales Coast. Angel Bay is popular because of its view and a wide range of marine wildlife. The basic and highlight animal of Angel Bay are the Grey Seals. It is easy to watch them while they swim around. The view is great.

Besides the occasional seal spotting, there are many breeds of birds there too. Birds like Fulmars, Razorbills, and gulls can be found there. While seals are easier to spot and are the main attraction, you could get to see other animals too. If you bring your binoculars, you might get a chance to catch sight of dolphins and porpoises at sea. Angel Bay is never too busy and is a great place for a family holiday to just enjoy and catch sight of a few wild seals.

If your going to Portmeirion then these great spots are just 15 minutes away...

Harlech Beach provides a four-mile stretch of pristine golden sand, with stunning views of the Snowdonia mountain range. The beach is backed by grassy dunes.
The Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve at the north end of the beach is Wales’s only growing dune system and provides a good example of the effects of longshore drift. To the south lies Shell Island, a promontory which, as the name suggests has an abundance of shells.

Harlech Castle, located in Harlech, Gwynedd, Wales, is a Grade I-listed medieval fortification, constructed atop a spur of rock close to the Irish Sea. It was built by Edward I during his invasion of Wales between 1282 and 1289
