Crookham Eastfield Farmhouse
Set in a village on the River Till in the north of Northumberland, Crookham Eastfield is a spacious retreat where you can revel in true rural seclusion. Enter through the gabled doorway into the inner hall, accented by a beautiful curved window and archway. On your left lies the forest-green drawing room. Choose between plump sofas warmed by a wood burner framed in neoclassical marble, or the romantic seat in the bay window which overlooks the garden. Returning to the hall you’ll find the formal dining room, with seating for up to 14 guests around its large wooden table, while tucked away at the rear of the house is a cosy snug with golden walls and a well-stocked bookcase – the ideal setting for card games and warming digestifs after dinner.
At the heart of the home is the country kitchen, with an AGA, island, and welcoming farmhouse table for informal dining. Expansive sash windows fill the room with natural light, making it a particularly lovely spot to gather for a leisurely breakfast in the morning. Also on the ground floor you’ll find a spacious and thoughtfully designed boot room where you can store outdoor gear, with its own separate door leading from the front garden so you can attend to boots and paws after muddy country walks.
Up the wooden staircase to the first floor you’ll discover all five bedrooms, each styled with their own soothing colour palettes and botanical textiles. The generously proportioned master bedroom features a super king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a large walk-in shower and bath. Floral and avian motifs abound in the artworks and fabrics of this room, sourced from the Inchyra Sutton Collection and based upon an 18th century print. The second bedroom is decorated with cream walls and pink floral curtains, while the third is styled with an original Pierre Frey fabric, re-purposed from a French château. These bedrooms share a bathroom, clad in blue tiles and fitted with a roomy shower and bath.
The fourth bedroom continues the botanical theme in its hummingbird fabrics and also benefits from its own en suite bathroom. Through its own ante room lies the fifth bedroom, decorated in soothing green and boasting a king size bed and en suite shower room. Every bedroom enjoys stunning views out across the rolling fields which surround the house, rendering each a peaceful haven in which to retire after days spent out exploring or simply unwinding within the grounds.
The house is encompassed by verdant gardens, with a picnic bench settled beneath that weeping willow to the front and an expansive enclosed lawn to the rear. Dogs and children will love having such ample space in which to play, while it makes for an equally idyllic place for your whole party to socialise on sunny days.
