Tom's Cottage, Cornwall Getaway breaks near Port Isaac. Evocative holidays in splendid seclusion full of creature comforts. A truly enchanting spot to unwind and enjoy good times.

A farming family home that until very recently, had only been visited by personal friends. A multitude of happy times and special occasions span the generational oral history: all centred around Tom's Cottage. This good vibe is embedded in the ambience of the place, enhancing the warm welcome and secure atmosphere. The proprietor was in fact born in a front bedroom and, with spouse, still lives &

works nearby; as do extended members of the family. Every care is being taken to remain true to Tom's Cottage's roots and retain the unique character that sets us apart from being just another holiday house. Location wise, Tom's Cottage is secluded but within easy striking distance of Port Isaac, Polzeath, Bodmin Moor & Wadebridge; and offers 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin rooms - recently refurbished in a contemporary rustic style. Our land based heritage equates to environmental awareness so it's our policy to nurture the hand that nature has dealt us and are blessed with extensive agricultural methods in the surrounding farmland. To the uninitiated, the night sky - when cloud cover isn't disruptive - provides fine star gazing. Barn owls and tawny owls are regularly heard calling at close quarters, along with the nocturnal calls of foxes. Bats will also be on the wing on a summer evening, along with various moths. By day, in a quiet moment, you may see a rabbit grazing on the lawn or popping into the lane hedge. July and August are the best months to spot butterflies, along with day flying moths and damselflies or dragonflies in the garden. Buzzards can regularly be heard mewing overhead as they ride the air currents, and in springtime you may notice jackdaws nesting in the old pigeon roost holes of the front garden wall. Swallows regularly return in summer to nest in the front porch (which is why the wind chimes have been left in situ - take a look and you'll know the reason why!) If really lucky, in late April or May you might hear the cuckoo calling in the valley.

🚜 Watch us on Countryfile 🚜
Sunday, 29th December, 7pm

In September, our Cornwall Coast Path Connectors (CPC) hub was invited to participate in a special ‘winter walking’ episode of Countryfile, BBC One’s flagship programme. We were thrilled to meet the Countryfile team and walk with presenter Charlotte Smith. Although it was breezy along the clifftops of Porthtowan, we had a joyful walk. We were able to share how the CPC work is positively impacting, enabling more people to venture onto the coast path and enjoy the many mental and physical health and well-being benefits a walk in nature provides.

A big thank you to our CPC partner organisations St Petrocs; The Cove Macmillan Support Centre; Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust; and our wonderful volunteers who joined us for the day. We’d also like to give a special shout-out to Roger from St Agnes Museum, who kept us entertained with the fascinating mining and maritime history of the area, hopefully, some of his stories will make the edit!

📺 You can stream the episode tomorrow, Sunday, December 29th, at 7pm. We hope you’ll tune in!
