⭐️Read On For Advice And Some Helpful Tips!
Decisions, Decisions, Airport Lounge or general terminal? For most people going on holiday, it starts as soon suitcases have been ditched and you are through the dreaded security.
You want to be free to stroll around the shops and browse the duty free… until you have been bumped into by the third person in a row, run over by someone’s wheelie hand luggage and have stepped over a young child rolling on the floor having a screaming tantrum.
The fun of looking at really needed # duty free goods has disappeared and all that is really wanted is an escape from the mayhem and to relax in anticipation of of the days ahead. This is where the airport lounge becomes a sanctuary ….
You will be greeted with a sympathetic smile and a friendly face who quickly checks you in and points you in the direction of the bar; clearly knowing the ordeal you have just been through.
The lounges are large enough to always find a seat or a table. and for some peace and quiet always look for the comfy chairs tucked away at the back - then head straight to the bar to grab a much needed drink. Wines included in the price of the lounge, although passable, are not usually premium brands; however you can pay to upgrade.
The food is generally buffet style and sufficient. It will not win any Michelin stars and is more like a chain pub style that caters for most people but you can have as much or little as you want so you can’t complain too much. Snacks and soft drinks are also available.
All in all, the main pull of a lounge has to be the relaxed and calm space to just chill. On balance, £30pp for a 3 hour stay with “all you can” compared to the alternative is pretty good value for money. Especially if you are long haul with fuss pots !
Do keep in mind that some lounges will be better than others; and can differ between airline specific and general airport lounges – particularly abroad.
But - Do arrive at the airport early to maximise the lounge experience, and join your flight ready to enjoy it !
