Yet another fantastic lesson with Amy of but this time in the sea! SUP plus SUP surf which was the best fun I've had in ages. This was at Westward Ho! beach, just 3 miles from Five Sunnyside 🌊

The Tarka Trail provides the perfect gateway for cyclists seeking to enjoy the challenging terrain of North Devon and Cornwall. This weeks ride from Five Sunnyside headed over the border into Cornwall with a coffee stop on the outbound leg at the Tamar Lake Cafe. A pasty from Lansdowne Bakery provided a tasty lunch on a busy Bude beach before heading back out of Bude on National Cycle Network 3. NCN3 provides a very pretty and interesting route along the River Neet before heading east to Holsworthy and then on to Petrockstowe to rejoin the Tarka Trail back to Five Sunnyside.

Might be handy for any guests visiting any of these local villages from Five Sunnyside. All 3 are within cycle or walking distance; worth a visit and who doesn't love an open top bus that is free!

Amazing sunset. Everybody can enjoy this. Tonight we took the bus from Bideford to Appledore and walked to Westward Ho! and stopped for our picnic dinner on a bulky and comfy sand dune a couple of kilometres from the Ho! Hard to explain the beauty and wow!! So good!
would love to see you here next summer

Stand up paddle boarding on the River Torridge is superb. Adventure Boardsports offer 1:1 or group lessons. They supply all you need. Here's my board in the garden of Five Sunnyside. Plenty of room in the shed if you've your own board, be it surf, paddle or even kayak. I had a 1:1 today and can't wait to get back on the water 💙

Gnome fan? My friend and I are and went to meet a "donsy of gnomes" who had recently moved into a garden at the Merry Harriers Garden centre
Free entry and there's the Mad Hatter Café serving cream teas and lunches etc. Garden centre and craft shop worth a visit too, but ultimately it has to be the gnomes!

After a busy few weeks getting ready to open for the first time, we are delighted to welcome our first guests to Five Sunnyside today.

Great morning out with
Duck diving and body surfing was epic and fun. Learning how to be sea safe is a good idea! Westward Ho! beach (blue flag no less) has lifeguards helping swimmers and surfers to see the tidal flows and currents as they shift.
I got the number 21 bus (short walk from ) there and back today. A breeeeeeze! They don't call it the Devon Wave for nothing 🌊

A grand ride taking the Tarka Trail from Five Sunnyside to Barnstaple and then up onto Exmoor before the descent to Lynmouth and Lynton. The return leg took in the stunning coastal path from Lynton through the Valley of Rocks.

Empty beaches, wild weather and big, big skies over at Northam Burrows today
01/05/2021
An evening swim at Westward Ho!, cold and exhilarating and fantastic!
28/04/2021
Taking some time out to bake bread at Five Sunnyside in a traditional Devon "bread brick" from . The terracotta pot allows the steam to escape during baking and makes for a most satisfyingly crunchy crust🍞
27/04/2021
Lovely circular walk from Westward Ho! to Abbotsham. Hedgerows are beginning to bloom, Red Campion, Bluebells, ferns, and the lacy cow parsley is not far off. Another delightful walk just 10 minutes from Five Sunnyside ☀️ and a delicious cheese and onion pasty at the end!!
22/04/2021
A beautiful walk of about 10km. Dropped down to Peppercombe beach and along the arduous pebbles to Buck's Mills and then up through woods and quiet country lanes to where we began. Tide was in, so no swim today 🌊
22/04/2021
Yesterdays ride from Five Sunnyside to Woolacombe taking in segments of and . The approach to Woolacombe along the coastal bridal path was a joy and after a picnic lunch on the beach I just about managed to keep the pedals turning up the climb out of Woolacombe towards Morthoe😳
