Midsomer on the Misbourne Midsomer on the Misbourne - a new self-guided locations trail highlighting Midsomer Murders locations Midsomer Murders is a mass-market global attraction.

More than six million people worldwide watch the show, and as a result, it attracts visitors from across the globe to filming locations year-round. This new self-guided locations trail highlights Midsomer Murders filming locations and places of interest in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that includes Great Missenden, Little Missenden, Old Amersham, Chalfont St Giles and Chalfont

St Peter, along the Misbourne Valley. (We have recently started doing guided Midsomer Murders and other film and television location walks around Amersham which can be booked. Look on the Amersham Museum website under Walks)

The River Misbourne flows through quintessentially English Buckinghamshire countryside, passing through rural landscapes and historic market towns and villages packed with pretty cottages, stone churches and traditional pubs. Visit Great Missenden, the home of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre which appeared as Shires Bank in ‘Painted in Blood’. Continue your journey to the lovely village of Little Missenden which has featured in over 13 episodes of the show. The next stop is Amersham, arguably one of the prettiest market towns in England. Combine your visit with a trip to the delightful Amersham Museum and a pit stop in one of the many award-winning eateries in the town. Continue on to Chalfont St. Giles, a small village of pretty cottages, pubs, manor houses, a church, village green and a duck pond – quintessential Midsomer! The last village on the trail is Chalfont St. Peter which is nestled on the southern slopes of the Chiltern Hills. There is plenty to see in the village and further afield, the Chiltern Open Air Museum, itself a filming location for multiple Midsomer episodes, Call the Midwife, Horrible Histories and Downtown Abbey to name a few. The Misbourne Valley has excellent rail and road links and outstanding walking and cycling. Pick up a Midsomer on the Misbourne locations trail leaflet from any of the village museums, libraries or train stations or click on this link to download a copy https://bit.ly/MidsomerontheMisbourne.

Lovely to see the regulars and some new faces today on our Great Missenden* to The Lee circular walk. Once again the C**k and Rabbit café at Lee Green was a welcomed stop for our walkers on a slightly chilly day!

No murders were committed at Badger’s Drift on our Midsomer Mayhem Meets Chilterns Charm, Chilterns Walking Festival guided walk - just good conversation and camaraderie.

Thank you Chilterns Walking Festival Chilterns National Landscape and Amersham Museum!

* Great Missenden is home to the fabulous The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre

Chilterns Walking Festival Great Missenden to Amersham walk. Lots of fascinating Midsomer Murders locations with a nice coffee break in Little Missenden before finishing in Amersham. We identified one episode, The Killings at Badger’s Drift that was filmed in all 3 locations!

They came from near and far, from Kingshill to Suffolk, braving the storm to join the Amersham film and television locations guided walk Midsomer Murders & More.

Undeterred by the forecast we set off in glorious sunshine and finished in glorious sunshine
(there may have been a brief downpour somewhere in the middle😉).

Please go to Amersham Museum for details of our next August walk

A dog, a cat and several humans made their way round Amersham on an Incredible Journey to see Midsomer Murders and other film locations dotted around the town.

‘Midsomer Murders and More’ was debuted at the Chilterns Walking Festival on Saturday. We had walkers from London, who were easily able to make the trip to our start point which was outside Amersham station, with others coming from places like Cookham and Halton.

“The walk was a nice mix of urban film locations in the Old Town and Amersham-on-the-Hill with a lovely countryside walk along the river as well”, said one walker.

The walking festival continues until Sunday 4 June

Tudor Amersham was out in force to greet Nick Gammage on his way through Amersham on his epic trek.

Nick is recreating the journey that William Shakespeare made from Stratford to London, whilst raising funds for Amersham Museum.

As well as feeding Nick, the Tudors provided savoury and sweet Tudor foods to passers-by and even had a bridal party sample their wares!
