How Will You Keep Us Safe from Covid-19?

A STRANGE YEAR
I ask many of the same questions that you do — how can we all stay safe from Covid-19?

2020’s been a strange year for all of us – and it’s only just over half-way through. We all reading what the media says the future holds. Let’s face it. None of us really know. This adds to our apprehension.

Travel companies have cancelled your holidays. All my tours are called off. I also go on holiday but my own are cancelled. The Shetland tourist season 2020 – for tourists and tour providers alike – has been pretty much devastated.

Throughout lockdown, I worked on how I can make us all safe for when you come to Shetland and take a tour with me.

There’s a lot of uncertainty around at the moment. To let things settle

a bit, I will not conduct any tours until the 1st of April 2021. I am taking bookings for next year though.

Hopefully, by then, there will be a lot more clarity therefore you’ll be more confident about a holiday in Shetland.

GOOD TO GO

mark. This means that Roundabout Shetland has:

followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines;
a Risk Assessment in place;
a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
SAFETY STEPS
I’ve lowered the upper limit to the number of passengers I can take – to help with social distancing.

Only members of one particular group will be allowed in a vehicle.

Hand sanitiser will be available within my vehicle for cleaning hands.

Disposable face masks will be available.

If necessary, I will place a screen between myself and you. I’ll be able to continue with my commentary via a microphone and the vehicle’s PA system.

To avoid your having to handle cash, all tours will be booked and paid in advance.

After each tour, I will thoroughly clean and disinfect the vehicle.

To ensure the safety of other passengers, anyone with Covid-19 symptoms won’t be allowed on a tour.

In Shetland, with its open spaces and small population it is straightforward and easy to avoid any crowds. This I always do.

I’ll also ensure that any venue we visit are also be adhering to suitable hygiene steps.

With the fluidity of the situation, actions may be subject to change.

I hope that all of the above steps will help allay any fears or doubts that you may have about taking a tour with me and that you come and enjoy beautiful Shetland.
