Just been out to do some watering. Aren’t these elongated scabious heads rather fabulous? Not mine, a friend grew these for her wedding.
Well folks, I am just over the moon to have received this award from Tripadvisor today. Travelers’ Choice, formerly Certificate of Excellence, recognizes businesses that earn consistently great reviews. Travelers’ Choice award-winners are among the top 10% of listings on Tripadvisor. This award is down to all of the wonderful people who take time and consideration towards posting reviews for my small business. Thank you lovely, lovely people. You are absolutely brilliant and I am really grateful. Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice honors select accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence.
Ooh this sounds nice. Any takers?
These beauties are Belted Galloways or ‘Belties’ and have moved into the National Trust ‘Rack Isle’ meadow at Bibury. Aren’t they absolutely gorgeous cows? Aren’t these the ones Hyacinth Bucket from ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ insisted her daily two pints of milk come from? Belties are particularly good for munching through grasses that other animals won’t eat. They enable other wildflowers to grow and do a great job of fertilising the land. A natural lawnmower.
So somewhere in the Cotswolds today I lost my beloved pair of Chanel sunglasses. These were once a very special and indulgent gift and now they are gone. After I dropped my guests back to their hotel, I retraced my steps, but to no avail. Should anyone happen to come across a lonely looking pair of fabulous sunnies, whilst you are out exploring this weekend, then perhaps they are mine and you could let me know please. I will reward you with tears of joy and a batch of my scones.
All set for a gorgeous day out touring the Cotswolds. Keeping the holiday vibes going for my guests with my air hostess ‘look’ today 😊
Every single time I post another photo or reel on here, my lovely aunty in New Zealand always responds with a supportive comment. She is unfailingly my biggest supporter. Because she lives on the other side of the world I have not seen her for years, though I am so fond of her. I adored her looking after me when I was a little girl. So in her honour, I am posting this lovely robin photo I took this week, because Aunty Ro loves robins. Let’s have a shout out to Aunty Ro ### Rosemary Boyce
A quick cuppa in one of my ultimate favourite pubs today whilst my guests finished eating the best sticky toffee pudding ever. Thank you Matt for always making it a special experience for my guests.
Today I took a private group of 14 ladies mostly Texan, out on a very special unique tour of the Cotswolds. We stopped for lunch at the Fleece Inn at Bretforton and everyone had a traditional Ploughman’s Lunch. Rustic, wholesome and delicious, these platters are the ultimate English country meals from times gone by (and occasionally these days too) Thank you for a wonderful experience dining in your thatched barn and your brilliant helpful staff.
The roses and ceanothus (blue flowered shrub) look absolutely gorgeous on this cottage in Blockley in the north Cotswolds area. At last, the roses are finally starting to bloom here.
Aurora Borealis from the Cotswolds tonight! Unfiltered photo taken from my iPhone
Beautiful little villages all around Burford, these places are right off the tourist trail and therefore stay peaceful, even on a Bank Holiday Monday! Burford town does get busy, but we visited first thing yesterday morning and avoided most of the busy crowds.
Hello everyone. Happy Friday. I have just had another go at producing my very own little podcast. I have only created 4 short episodes so far, and they only feature me chatting away to myself. This is very much a work in progress, but you have to start somewhere, don’t you?
It is available on Spotify and Google and possibly Amazon.
I have great plans to build on it and start interviewing some of my Cotswold friends I have made since I have been touring and exploring. If you would like to be interviewed - and don’t expect me to be all serious and sensible with my questions - then get in touch.
Feedback is welcomed, but go gently with me. Xx
I absolutely had to join my guests for lunch today because otherwise they wouldn’t have known to order the best tempura prawns in Oxfordshire and then the sticky toffee pudding. So well done me for assisting in their choices and staying to check they are still delicious. Thank you to landlord Matt for his brilliant hospitality, we love your pub.
I can’t resist posting these pics. Castle Combe is such an iconic Cotswold village. It is closer to the south western edge of the Cotswolds, so nearer to Bath than Oxford. I caught it in a quiet moment, before all the tourists descended. (BTW - My tour guests aren’t tourists, they’re my friends hanging out with me, a local, for the day. It’s different 😉😎) This village is so lovely, but remember that we have about 400 villages and towns in the Cotswolds. There are so many lovely places to explore when you can get away from the more frequented hotspots. It’s great if you can mix it up and visit both well known places and also quiet beauty spots. The Cotswolds is a ‘slow down, breathe deep and listen’ kind of place.
Happily passing the time at The Slaughters Manor House this afternoon whilst my delightful guests took afternoon tea. I took selfies whilst pretending to be Lady Cotswold. After all, what else should one do when visiting a grand old Manor House hotel?? It took all my strength to resist taking selfies at the grand piano.. 😎📸
Beautiful Castle Combe this morning whilst we were on our way to Bath.
I saw this little sign this week when we were visiting the pretty village of Charlbury. It sums up very well how I like to give my tours. I am not a ‘squeeze in lots of stops, take a photo and get back in the car’ kind of guide. When you visit here, slowing down, pausing to listen to birdsong, meeting a local, having a chat, taking in the view is absolutely what it’s all about.
“Oh, to be in England
Now that April’s there.”
Well, this has been a week of spring showers! I have been out touring and exploring with my lovely guests and we have ducked and dived from hail and rain showers. Our cheeks have been chafed by the northerly winds and then we have stretched out and appreciated the spells of warm sunshine.

Happy Wednesday everyone. Today is just one of those days when fish ‘n’ chips AND mushy peas are the only thing on my menu.
April 2022 in the Cotswolds. I am so excited it won’t be long now until we start to see all these fresh colours and new growth and life. Just needs to warm up a bit more and we need a little more sunshine for my tours. April and May are really busy months for my tours!

I absolutely love visiting Cirencester. Just a few shots I have taken in the last week. Pretty little gift shops, cafes and many, many more! It is an independent shopping haven!
I hope you have all enjoyed/are enjoying a lovely Easter Sunday. I’ve been cooking, baking, nagging my son to revise for his exams and made an Easter egg treasure hunt this morning which may have given me more pleasure than anyone else. I had hoped to get outside into my garden today and do some more digging, but it is just too darn chilly. Bring back the sunshine!!
View from the Gods. I took my guests up to the top of the Sheldonian building today, to admire Oxford’s views from inside. It isn’t often they open up this wonderful venue for visitors, so it was great to be flexible and impromptu and get up to the top.
I had the absolute pleasure of spending a night at The Vineyard Hotel at Stockcross on Saturday night. Oh my gosh, what a treat! This is a wine lover’s and foodie’s destination hotel, and what’s more, it is a 12 minute drive from Highclere Castle aka Downton Abbey. Also only 45 mins from Heathrow. I loved everything - afternoon tea, scones, delicious wines, the pool and spa, our room, wonderful friendly staff, amazing 5 course tasting menu. I still managed to find space for breakfast! Such a treat!
This is Woodstock, Oxfordshire at night. It is a small peaceful town on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds, and famous for its close proximity to Blenheim Palace. I popped here last night to pick up a delicious Indian takeaway for dinner and took these shots whilst I was waiting for my meal. I often come here to shop. There is a butchers, deli, shoe mender and green grocer, lots of really great pubs, a fabulous hairdresser called Neil and some lovely clothes boutiques.
I often recommend Woodstock as a place to base yourselves when you are visiting this area. I find it beautiful, safe, not touristy and there are some great walks, particularly as you enter into Blenheim Palace grounds.
It was a wet day in the Cotswolds yesterday whilst I was touring with my guests. But we found this lovely spring flower display at a village shop near to Bibury. Aren’t they cheerful and uplifting?
Stow on the Wold was damp and grey today, but in wet weather the famous Yew trees - said to have inspired Tolkien - glow red. I almost think the rain is appreciated when we see the trees like this, don’t you?
Hello March. Lovely to see you. I am so pleased you are here at last. This is what you looked like March last year, in the village of Stanton and surrounds.

I am immensely grateful for the wonderful reviews I receive from my tour guests. My business is small and I keep my standards high by not employing other guides to run my tours. I deliver all my tours myself so that I can be sure that each one is exactly as I would like it to be and meets my guests’ needs and interests. I aim for every single guest to receive the VIP treatment… and also to have a lot of fun and laughter along the way. #besttours #bestguides #cotswoldteacuptours #cotswolds #bestcotswoldtours #thecotswolds
This is all rather silly, and I really hope it doesn’t put anyone off booking a tour with me, but sometimes funny thoughts need to be shared. Can deer have twins?? That’s the topic of the day folks. This is one of the most impressive Cotswold venues for lunch and (extremely posh furniture shopping). @rh_restorationhardware I have brought a few tour guests here to dine in the Orangerie at Aynho Park for lunch. Sometimes you just have to break free from the cosy Cotswold pub and immerse yourself in an utterly sophisticated country mansion. This place really is special, #aynhoepark #rhengland #cotswold #cotswoldteacuptours #cotswolds

A short taster of our weekend in Padstow, Cornwall. It was an indulgent foodie weekend but we managed to get a few walks in too. I absolutely love this area of England. We dined at Nathan Outlaws restaurant in Port Isaac, then went on to Padstow to St Petrocs Bistro and Rick Steins Seafood Restaurant for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Great little lunch on Saturday at Little Prawn. First time away in ages for us, so I think our mega treat was well earned! We managed to haul ourselves out early on Saturday morning to get these shots before the crowds arrived. Well worth the effort! @prawnonthelawn #prawnonthelawn #rickstein #stpetrocsbistro #nathanoutlaw

A serene scene for you. A moment of escapism. This is St Edwards church in Stow on the Wold. I caught a quiet moment for reflection and admired the ancient church, the gravestones slowly sinking into the ground, the churchyard daisies and the oh so blue sky. I wish I could write a poem about this. @alunazores72 #cotswoldteacuptours #stedwardsstowonthewold #stowonthewold #churchyard #cotswolds #cotswoldlife
Such a sweet family toured with me today. I created a tour that would entertain the parents and also keep the little ones happy. We included the best play parks, lots of animal spotting, food stops to please everyone, the model village at Bourton on the Water, and a princess’ tower but fortunately the dragon wasn’t at home. Whew. Lovely day, full of singing, giggling and general silliness from me. I am ready for my nap time!#cotswoldteacuptours #travelwithkids #cotswoldlife #cotswolds_culture #britishholiday

It’s Chelsea Flower Show time, and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show off some of the beautiful blooms I have seen these past few days whilst out on my tours, here in the Cotswolds. Oh! The wisteria right now is fully in bloom. Yesterday I took a couple on a gardens tour around some of my favourite places in the Cotswolds. This is Rousham, near to Oxford. #cotswoldgardens #cotswolds #englishgardens #victoriamagazine #gardens

Good morning lovely people. I am in Cheltenham this morning, just about to start today’s tour with 3 fabulous ladies. I may have arrived a little bit early. I may have stopped in a waffle cafe and I may have ordered a maple and apple waffle for breakfast. I can neither deny nor confirm. 🧇🍏☕️#cheltenham #cotswolds #cotswoldlife
I have just returned from another fabulous tour into the deepest Cotswolds. Today I created a very special tour for my guest. We went to villages and towns which are a little bit more off the beaten track. We started out at Woodstock, to get a coffee from the Buttery Tearoom and strolled around the town. We peeped in through the gates of Blenheim Palace, waved hello to my brilliant shoe mender, passed the butchers, green grocers and went on our way to Great Tew. It can get busy here at weekends but today it was quiet and we listened to the birdsong and admired all the thatched cottages here. Next stop was Charlbury, where we walked the circuit around the village, and explored the Victorian gravestones in the churchyard. We couldn’t resist stopping at the fabulous Bell pub for lunch. She had fish and chips and a cider to drink, and I had scampi and local asparagus. Both were delicious! We finished the afternoon by popping to Jaffe and Neale bookshop in Chipping Norton and then a visit to Daylesford, because you just have to go there sometimes. I did purchase the most expensive cup of takeaway tea I have ever paid for (£4.25!?!), but then that’s my fault for not packing my little jetboil which enables me to boil water when I’m out and about!(I am a resourceful woman when it comes to life’s necessities) We were about to head back to the pick up point when my guest mentioned one of her favourite authors. Barbara Pym. Somewhere in my mind I recollected that I have passed the house she lived in many times. So I pulled over to a safe place, updated the route, and off we went to visit Barbara’s house. This little epiphany of mine might have been the highlight of the whole day for my guest. That and the amazing fish and chips she said 😀. So, all in all, another great day. Off to check the seedlings now. Toodledo. #jaffaandneale #chippingnorton #woodstock #wakeuptowoodstock #charlbury #cotswolds #thecotswolds
