6 days left until we open the doors to Yorkshire's only 25m heated outdoor pool 🏊

We get lots of questions about the sessions so we thought we'd break it down for you 😃

🟣Adults Only (Mon-Fri 11:15am - 1:00pm) We divide the pool in half for over 18's, you can be as slow or as quick as you like.

🟡Open Swims (Everyday 1:15pm-3:00pm OR 5:15pm-7:00pm) This is just the pool as it comes.

🟢Fun Swims (Mon-Fri 3:15pm-5:00pm and Weekends 11:15am-1:00pm). This is a session tailored towards kids and families, we put toys and floats in the pool. You can also bring your own toys/floats too (As long as they are sensible and not too big, this may come down to lifeguard discretion)

🔵Lane Swim (Thursday 7:15pm - 9:15pm) The pool is split into 4 lanes and there's optional coaching from some amazing pool helpers 😃

Artillery shell at the side of the road (A170) in Middleton
When the Great War ended in 1919, shells from the Dreadnoughts of the 5th Battle Squadron were placed as memorials in Aislaby and Middleton, Yorkshire. This may have been in appreciation of funds raised towards the war effort.

PICKERING CASTLE.
It was built by the Normans English Kings due to the proximity of the adjacent Royal forest. But did not see much action war. It building work started off the castle in the late 1069.
Pickering was picked as it had links, paths roads, to York & Whitby and Scarborough and other areas in the North.
When it was built first mainly of wood and earth. Henry II who replaced the former timber palisade on top of the motte with a stone shell keep between 1180 and 1187.
And the next time it was upgraded was between 1207 and 1210 during the reign of King John.
In around 1255 Pickering Castle shifted from the Sheriff of Yorkshire to the King's Justiciar who was task to look after and maintain the castle.
Henry III granted Pickering Castle to his younger son, Edmund Crouchback, Earl of Lancaster in 1267.
By the late fifteenth century, the castle was only for royal use. The ruins still stand today for many to walk and enjoy.

The Howardian Hillls are easy to explore from Dale View. Offering great scenery and walks there are many lovely villages and pubs.
Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Kirkham Priory and Hovingham Hall are just a few places of interest to visit.
