Centuries before Columbus, Norse explorers established a settlement at Newfoundland’s northern tip, now known as L’Anse aux Meadows.

Carbon dating places its origins between 990 and 1050 CE, making it the sole verified pre-Columbian site of European contact with the Americas.

Set amidst Newfoundland’s mountainous beauty, the remains of this timber-and-sod base, possibly led by Leif Erikson, provide a fascinating glance at early trans-oceanic exploration.

Creating a joyous and inspiring environment is essential for uniting communities and enhancing wellbeing. Thankfully, our Egyptian partners, Excel Travel, can also see the value of beauty and festivities to uplift the collective spirit.

Through their initiatives, guests could participate in a bicycle tour to visit remotely located schools, engage in songs and dances, present gifts of stationary and supplies, as well as revitalise the walls of the school with fresh, colourful paint – after all, making a difference in the lives of the next generation is the best way to help a community flourish.

The textiles produced by women working via the empowerment project (covered in our last Egyptian post, with more detail on our website) were also available to guests, but best of all – participants had the opportunity to paint the streets of a poor rural village, embellishing and reviving them with vibrance and character!
