During the afternoons in Lango Camp, I would take my camera down to the lower deck and perch in a shady spot, swinging my legs over the edge. The cool waters of the Lango Bai draw the secretive forest mammals out of the tangle of foliage and into the afternoon light.
Quiet creatures like Lady Bushbuck.

How that sighting continued. The second Mama appears from the rocks and between the two of them they lead their nine cubs straight past us and out into the big space of the Northern Serengeti. An extraordinary moment!

We say goodbye to the volcanoes in the morning after breakfast and drive across a thousand hills back to Kigali.
From here we fly East to the Northern Serengeti.
Settle in at the lodge and pop out for a sundowner that evening.
This is what greets us here….
Magic.

The Hidden Giants.
Secret, massive, ghostly in their appearance from the foliage, Africa’s Forest Elephants were mesmerizing.

Forest Buffalo at Lango Baï in Odzala Kokoua National Park. They are a little smaller than our Cape buffalo and their reddish colour makes them very handsome indeed.
But watch out if you come across one in the forest.

Day breaks over the volcanoes, this morning we depart Rwanda and head East to Tanzania and the Northern Serengeti. What a magical send off.

I have travelled far and wide.
But my recent trip to Odzala-Kokoua national park in Republic of the Congo, was something new and very special.
A very remote park in northern Congo Brazzaville, where you only explore on foot and in kayaks or by boat, it feels like travelling back in time.
Our natural world is a splendidly thought out network of all creatures big and small.
And I think we often forget that we are part of this network and that it isn’t only there to serve us but that we must protect it, for our own sake.
Like this mama gorilla protects her little baby.
Deep thoughts from a places that touched me deeply.

The sense of wonder I have felt over the past ten days visiting Odzala National Park in Republic of Congo still lingers in every cell of my body.
I am not an overly spiritual person, but if there is a place where magic happens, it must be here.
Expertly guided - my trip to Odzala was mindblowing and absolutely beautiful!

When mountain forests draw you in like a breathing giant. You enter another world in amongst those trees, surrounded by life but so out of your element you struggle to witness it. It eventually exhales you later and you are a better person than the one that entered.
