Fernvalley Wildlife Centre Fernvalley Wildlife Centre is located on the stunning Orkney Islands in the far north of Scotland. We are the most northerly wildlife centre in the UK!

Here at the centre many of our animals are rescue, Fernvalley is their forever home and a place where they can help teach future generations about the importance of the natural world. So come and visit us to meet our animal residents, take part in the daily handling sessions and take a walk on the wild side! And when you have had all that fun come and relax in our on-site tearoom for a well-earned rest and some great food and drink.

Our raccoon dogs having some enrichment, to help their physical and mental wellbeing. We fill kong toys with special treats. They have to lick the meat paste and root around with the toys to release the treats.

Mo is trying to get at the blueberries and mealworms at the bottom of the pipe box which we use as part of the meerkat enrichment schedule. She likes to hog the food! Leave some for Hera Mo!

Here’s Norbert arriving on island. He’s settling in well and getting lots of tlc from our animal keepers.

This is Acacia, enjoying some enrichment, with some honey squares made by our animal keepers. They're made from recycled carboard with a layer of honey spread on them with a couple of sultanas and sunflower seeds stuck on top. VERY sticky but one of the Lemurs favourite treats!

This is Summer, one of our Raccoon dogs, enjoying some smell enrichment using a special spray sprayed onto the stone. It works the same as catnip to cats and causes them to rub themselves all over the scent.

We still have some animal adoption packs available! Animals for sponsorship range in price. Smaller animals from £25. Larger animals (Lemurs, Meerkats, Racoon dogs and our Iguana Max) are £40. When you adopt an animal you will receive an adoption pack including: * Adoption certificate * Species fact sheet * Fact sheet about your animal * Photo * One free ticket to come and visit * A wooden plaque on the animal's enclosure to thank you for adopting Email us at [email protected] to arrange your voucher or adoption before the 10th December!
