🇭🇷CROATIA BLOG 🇭🇷

If anyone has ever considered going to Croatia/Dubrovnik then I will say one simple word GO!
I have spent the most wonderful week there with my family and can’t wait to go back.
We stayed in an apartment in a small village called Srebreno about 8km from Dubrovnik and trust me it was beautiful- a hidden gem! It was busy enough to feel like there was an atmosphere with a beautiful beach side promenade lined with a few restaurants and bars that swept around the bay but not busy busy which made it the perfect resort for a beach holiday within easy reach of all that Dubrovnik has to offer, also making it a perfect city break location.
What did we do while we were there?
We walked the city walls of Dubrovnik’s old town early morning which was stunning.
We visited nearby Cavtat by water taxi which was BEAUTIFUL.
We went on a full day boat trip visiting the Elaphiti Islands - Lopud, Sipan and Kolocep all with breathtaking scenery and lovely quaint harbours.
We visited the Old town at night - a very different vibe to the day time, with a more relaxed, cosmopolitan feel with people eating and drinking in restaurants that lined the streets as the sun was setting, many others strolling the streets and the harbour as were we, we also enjoyed the most delicious ice creams! 🍊
We walked
 including visiting the abandoned hotels of Kupari which was just a short walk from our apartment. They were abandoned during the civil war in 1991 and no one has returned since. Very sad but extremely interesting especially as Kupari has the most beautiful sandy cove.

Things we didn’t get to see was the island of Lokrum (made famous due to filming of Game of Thrones). We also didn’t get to see the Blue Caves which is a boat trip involving swimming into beautiful caves.

Another must do that we didn’t get chance to do due to it being a little cloudy on our last night (the only cloudy night we had as well 🙃) was a cable car ride from Dubrovnik to see the views of the Old Town from a view point up the mountain- you can also book a table in a panoramic restaurant, Here you can experience the most amazing views - I’m told it’s particularly spectacular at sunset - I guess we definitely need to go back to experience it as the weather wasn’t on our side.

Ubers were fairly cheap for families to get around, water taxis were great fun too and a great way to see the views from a boat.

Lots of lovely places to eat too.

It really was stunning and I was a little surprised that it was as beautiful as it was and I can’t wait to go back to discover more that Croatia has to offer.
