I have many great memories of the 6 past years being Captain on S/V Curanta Cridhe. One of my favorite ones is this special moment in Scotland when an American guest came on board with her family to revisit her Scottish roots. She asked me to go to Staffa Island where Felix Mendelssohn wrote: The Hebrides Overture, Op.26 'Fingal's Cave'
So we anchored Curanta Cridhe on the leeward side of Staffa and took the tender into the Fingal's Cave. It was not an easy maneuver as the big swell from the ocean was quiet strong and I had to synchronise my entrance into the cave with the waves... Once in the cave she asked her son to play the music... It was an exceptional moment of grace and peace.
