Hi all,

I will be running historical tours of Craigiebuckler on three Saturdays this summer:
29th July,
12th August &
19th August.

You can sign up/book a place by email at [email protected]
Or call/text me on 07711 922092.

The price is £5 per person, payable on the day of the tour.

Please see the attached flier for more information, and make sure you’re following the Dreamexist Tours page to stay updated.

There will be old photos, old maps and many stories and much information about the area and its past.
You’ll be introduced (not literally :)) to some fascinating characters who have had a role to play in the history of the area.

Learn about the origin of the place names. Find out about the Chinese influence and connections to the Second O***m War.
Mary Queen of Scots features too!

And the Blaikie family connection with Craigiebuckler, the family which provided not only two Lord Provosts to the city in the nineteenth century but also the author of a long forgotten economic catastrophe for many landed gentry and wealthy clients in and around Aberdeen.

You’ll visit and learn about the history of Craigiebuckler House, Craigiebuckler Parish Church, Walker Dam, and the sites of Springfield House and Burnieboozle House, and we finish the tour at the Hazlehead estate (now Hazlehead Park).

Why not come along?

Tours start at 10:45 at the entrance to Couper’s Pond on Macaulay Drive and last approximately 2 hours.

Some rain forecast for the first half of tomorrow morning (Sat., 30th July), but will hopefully be past by the time of the tour starting at 10.45 a.m. Temperature 16-18 degrees C, light winds. All good. Looking forward to it :)

Thanks to all (including the three best behaved dogs in Scotland :)) who attended Saturday's historical walking tour of Craigiebuckler (25th June) - great weather and good conversation, new information and feedback. One very welcome feature of the tour is gaining more information on the area's history from among those attending - on this occasion regarding Yixin (or Prince (of) Kung), an important figure within the Qing dynasty in China in the nineteenth century who had an indirect influence on the history of Craigiebuckler. (If you want to learn more about the connection, please come along to a tour. You can see his photograph in an earlier Dreamexist Facebook post).

The next historical walking tour of Craigiebuckler is this Saturday (2nd July) at 10.45 a.m. - there are still places left - if interested in attending, please get in touch !
