I’m so happy when we get such positive reviews from people visiting our little lodge. I must admit I often find myself pausing for a while when I’m doing the changeover and just sitting enjoying the view and the peace.

Even in the rain the lodge is beautiful.
The view across the field from the windows and on the steps brings meaning to “big Norfolk skies”.
Down in the garden area you’re surrounded by trees and bushes. The wild flowers on the field side provide shelter from the wind and interest for the bees and butterflies.

The fields and verges around the property are all being managed by the landowner as set aside for the benefit of wildlife, particularly birds.

Super day on the water. Just 20 minutes from the lodge is where you can hire a day boat and explore the sights of the Waveney River section of the Norfolk Broads. No experience necessary; all tuition on how to control the boat, plus buoyancy aids, is provided.

The may have dogs loved it as much as us, enjoying the calm and doing some wildlife spotting. I was particularly excited to see a Kingfisher just past the Beccles Lido.

Raveningham Hall Gardens are just 20 minutes away; formal walled veg gardens sit next to beautiful herbaceous borders and complimented by gorgeous greenhouses, an arboretum and stunning meadowlands.

A great day out, only half an hours drive from the lodge… a visit to the for a walk and some wildlife spotting followed by a bite to eat in their cafe, then five minutes down the road is Oulton Broad where you can take a tour of the broads with - we did the afternoon 2 hour tour out past Somerleyton and back; more wildlife en route where we saw Marsh Harriers and Herons.

Added bonus. Both places are dog friendly!

Rain or shine the lodge allows you to take some time out from everyday life and rest a while. We even provide some games and books to pass the time with!

Dad, the dogs and I went to Caldecott today. Just half an hour from the lodge it’s a beautiful destination for a walk with the dogs and to say hello to the beautiful horses and donkeys.

They also have a cafe which serves delicious sausage rolls and a cake!! 😋

We’ve been working on getting the exterior space tip top with wildlife friendly planting and comfortable seating.
In the dog safe garden space there’s a table and chairs, electric bbq and also some lounging chairs. I sat here the other day enjoying the sunshine with my eyes closed and opened them to see a muntjac walking on the other side of the fence. Wonderful.

Ready for guests… cosy and warm with books to read, binoculars to view the wildlife (from bed if you like!), tea, coffee and treats provided, and even a full sized shower with luxury shampoo and conditioner (from Wild England). We hope you enjoy our rural retreat as much as we do.

Dog friendly!! With two little dogs ourselves we wanted to make a holiday place that’s suitable for two adults and their dogs. The space is best suited for one dog but we’ve already had two larger dogs stay and although it was a tight fit they all seemed to have a nice time.

Let us know you’re bringing your dog and you’ll get our doggy welcome pack left in the hut ready for them. With a public footpath right outside and an outside doggy wash down area (with warm water!!) it’s a dogs dream holiday… and so hopefully yours too!!
