My friend and I have just returned from the most perfect few days dressmaking in the wilds of Northumberland. We'd searched for a cottage with a big table for sewing, plenty of floorspace for pattern cutting, lots of windows for natural light and found https://crookhouse.com/ which exceeded our expectations, having all those plus two luxurious en-suite bedrooms, glorious views and a lovely housekeeper, Brenda. Here are some holiday pics...
Kath and me being industrious - I'm wearing the pyjamas I made on day one (actually following a pattern!) - Kath modelling the golden trousers which were the first ever garment she's made so hugely impressive, and a wee nightshirt and pj pants I made for my toddler grandson, recycling one of my my favourite flannelette sheets.
I'd highly recommend organising your own 'sewing retreat' if you get the chance, we'll definitely be doing it again! 🪡🧵👚✂️🦌
