Jewels at EarthHeart Jewels is a teacher & facilitator with over 25 years experience working with people to make profound shifts in their lives. Nature became my religion.
(4)

I have deeply loved nature from as far back as I can remember, even as a very young child. As a child nature would speak to me and I would enjoy speaking back and listening for answers to questions I had. I experienced nature as the body of ‘God’, as divinity itself somehow. It always brought me back to this, especially during the darker times of my life. It kept reminding me in such a simple yet

powerful way, of the sacredness of all life and about my place in the interconnected web of life. I experience it as a profound teacher of Love within an Earth-based spirituality that makes sense to my body, heart and soul. It showed me the truth about relating and about the need for respect and balance between the feminine and masculine in all things. How every element in nature is aware of all that is around it and how all elements are all giving and receiving from each other. When I left home all I wanted was to live close to the land and in community. I have spent as much of my life as possible doing this. From as early back as my mid-teens I started to listen to the wisdom within the natural world around me and received such profound support I began to listen more. I also was being guided by a circle of ancient beings who showed themselves to me and I call my ‘council’. They encouraged me to listen deeply and to trust what I heard and what was being asked of me. I found myself creating temporary sacred spaces wherever I went, for people to gather and share in. I held a vision that one day I would be the guardian of a piece of land that meant that this sacred space could grow ever deeper roots. A place that people could come to and experience nature as our teacher, an opener of our human hearts and a re-membering of our sacred interconnectedness. A place to slow down enough to be able to hear the heartbeat of the earth and the wisdom she brings, to commune in her wildness, to sit with her stillness and be in her awe-inspiring relentless beauty. A place to bring consciousness to human fragile hearts and to heal our relationships between the masculine and the feminine in humanity. To discover such connection in ourselves through this that the natural outcome is to want to honour all life as sacred and to live from a balanced place within so that our lives grow in the service of Love for the collective evolution of all humanity.

“…this place showed itself to me, I listened, and here I am…”

LoveJam festival 2024 - deep bow to you 🙏💚

I have been wanting to go to LoveJam for a few years now but the dates always clashed for me. This year I made it. Having been a festival veteran for nearly 44 years and part of creating the early free festivals and conscious camps movements back in the early 80's, LoveJam managed to capture so many of the best aspects of what makes conscious festival magic.

It was like a mixture of Buddhafield festival 20 years ago (and much smaller) and Medicine festival. As soon as I arrived I could feel the frequency of the vision and how it was infused in all aspects of the event, from infa-structrue, the crew and all the offerings. With the next generation of festival creators, I have wondered whether the essence of what was birthed all those decades ago would or could be carried forwards. Well, I would say not only is that a big yes but they have added so much more too. I was so inspired by the creativity, the love, the care, the open heartedness, the no drugs and alcohol policy that did not in any way diminish the amount of fun, wildness, freedom and connection to be had.

All the infa-structure was beautifully made and the spaces. So much music and inclusivity, not polished or pretentious, at all, quite humble and everywhere was a welcoming place and space. People so open and friendly. There is so much to celebrate and it might just be my new favourite festival which had been held by Buddhafield for so many many years. And they are similar in many ways, a combination of the early days of Buddhafield when it was small and before it became a victim to it's own success. It is of course still amazing and I am sure will continue to be but LoveJam was small and had that wonderful quality of intimacy which is just impossible to keep once an event gets to a certain size.

Nathan the founder is also an amazing young man and his integrity could be felt throughout the whole event. If your wondering about going, I highly recommend.

I have spent a lot of time sitting around the fire this summer, either here on the land or at various festivals and camps. This has been the centre of my life for my entire life and I honestly would not be a sane person without it. It is so holding, connecting, comforting and stilling. Fire hearths where at the heart of the life of our deep time ancestors and we have lost this way of living. We may not be able to fully live like this now and TV has become our fire hearth.

I am offering a weekend here at EarthHeart on the land where you can explore some of the core practices of my work and the entire weekend is centred around the fire - it's lush and a beautiful way for the summer to stretch out a little longer. Come join me, link in comments

I'm seeking to gather a list of 'spiritual' elders who reside in the UK.

I am defining an elder as someone who is at least 70 years old and considered an elder by those around them and the wider community. That they have earned this position because of how they conduct themselves and the wisdom they hold and that they have been called for by those around them. We don't sadly have a strong indigenous lineage of elders to lean into in these British lands like first nation people but nevertheless ....

As we know becoming old in age does not make us elders. I also acknowledge that there are MANY younger people who have elder energy and while I acknowledge them this is not what this list is. The elders I am calling for have life experience, have been in the body for an amount of time that no matter how much elder wisdom a younger person might be channeling there is something that is added with more years lived.

Please put their name in the comments below and if you have a link to anywhere online they can be found that also (which I know a lot of elders don't have !! 😂)

Morning loves.. I've been so inspired lately by deep, rich conversations with women sharing their menopause journey... so-much-so that I'll be bringing back my online and in-person menopause workshop this Autumn. More details will come soon. Do reach out if you want to be added to my mailing list to hear first.

In the meantime, one of these conversation I had was with Alison Palmer for her amazing Menopause summit !!

The online summit is called Magnificent Menopause and it's challenging the stigma attached to menopause so that 100% of women worldwide can reclaim it and celebrate it as a natural - and magnificent - powerful, transformative experience in our lives. ✨

It applies to you whether you ...
.. are approaching perimenopause or you're in it right now.. have experienced surgical menopause or natural menopause.. had your menopause years ago and think it doesn't impact you now (hint: it probably is still having a massive impact) ❤️

IT'S FREE TO SIGN UP AND JOIN IN ON THE CONVERSATION !!

A poem that really sums up how our culture has been trained to think about ANYONE who tries to live in the way they want or can afford which is different to the way we where trained to aspire to
·
Can't afford rents,
Not allowed tents,
Don't park by my house,
Don't park by my fence,
Don't park by the coast line, woodland or quarry.
Don't park there or you'll be sorry.
Don't sleep on my street or in that shop doorway,
Don't sleep by my bin or in that dark walkway.
Don't look at me, speak at me, ask me for spare change.
You're not human, you're just something strange.
You don't fit to my comfortable norm...
A form or some gorm, who's torn and worn.
You're not human, you don't need love and compassion..
Not until you are dead, then we'll say... what a shame that has happened...

16/06/2024

I love deep time evolution of planet Earth, somehow when I hear it being described something ancient in me wakes up and I feel able to align my energies easier to the rocks and the crystals. I remember at school there was very little that held my attention but physical geography was one, tectonic plates, when the first flowers came, when we moved from water to land.....

This is a beautiful concise story of the forming of life on earth, taken from John Muir and Jonathan Huet - A feel the earth trying to tell us about her .....

A LIFELESS BALL OF ROCK
A nebulous cloud of toxic gases held together by the force of gravity yet to be fertilised by the life-giving waters of early creation.

Over millions of years the rock cooled and moisture started to rise too small for gravity to hold down. As the droplets increased in size and started to fall the earth was still too hot for it to hit the surface and then at some point the droplets were of a size to fall, and the rock was of a temperature to enable the greatest deluge ever known to fall upon the earth ( maybe the great flood spoken of in mythology) and it became a water world without the green that separates the blue to make the wonderful globe we know of today.

3.2 billion years ago
An asteroid hit the earth which was sixty kilometers in diameter, four times the size of the one that destroyed the dinosaurs fracturing the earth’s crust. This hugely destructive act created our unique system of tectonic plates which helped form granite pushing the granite to the surface to form land for life forms to live upon. All Nature's wildness tells the same story: the shocks and outbursts of earthquakes, volcanoes, geysers, roaring , thundering waves and floods, the silent uprush of sap in plants, storms of every sort, each and all, are the orderly, beauty-making love-beats of Nature's heart.

The first cyanbacterias formed, marine algae just a few millimeters across, the first recognisable plants that could photosynthesis, our autotrophs, our primary producers that could take food direct from the sun that would make it possible for aerobic life forms to exist. Our older relatives that have created the perfect conditions for us to survive!

However to start with they could not leave the waters, they managed to go from the sea to colonise shallow waters and freshwater rivers but could not make that leap to dry land for there was no soil which can hold water and they had yet learnt to create leaves. On land they would dry out and their protective waxy coats that developed where they grew near the water’s edge meant they could not absorb nutrients.

However half a billion years before the plants set off onto the land another species had made the leap, chemically breaking down rock to survive, the first fungus had developed.

430 million years ago
Gargantuan leathery spore-bearing fungal monsters called Prototaxites dominated the land growing up to 8 meters high. They towered above the tiny plants which were still clinging to the water’s edge.

In order for the plants to leave the waters they needed to reach out, to form a symbiotic relationship with another, a relationship which would bring the first terrestrial life to the earth with the first terrestrial complex ecosystem. The plants reached out to the fungus.

The first plants scratched away at the rock with tiny root-like hairs creating dust which was mixed with the enzymes secreted by the fungi. The first plants died and with the mix of dust and enzymes slowly soil was created to set their descendants free.

Soil changed the world, the plants now were able to develop a vascular system to enable them to move water through tissues and the first roots developed to draw up nutrients so they can now grow tall stems. The soil offers a perfect medium for their wind-born spores so the plants can spread across the planet creating the green alongside the blue colour characteristic of our globe.

Leaves started to develop which were a crucial game-changer, they are waxy on top to keep them waterproof with strong ribs to keep them flat. The pigment chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light from the sun and the process of photosynthesis is carried out by the chloroplasts as light energy is converted to chemical energy for growth, They also have Stomata, which are like tiny mouths enabling the gas exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen so vital in plants and essential for all aerobic life forms.

This incredible engineering was once only on the stems and now is the function of the leaves maximising the potential of photosynthesis and pushing the plant ever up.

Water is life

When I'm holding grief rituals I always begin with gratitude and to invite people to express what they are grateful for about their life. This is essential because we only grieve for what we love so in this way connecting to what we are grateful for can help open the gates to grief with us which can sometimes be hard to find.

Then i invite people to consider what is really precious to them in their life, like REALLY precious. Most often people say the following list or variations of. Before you look at the list I invite you to close your eyes and see what you have on yours .......

My children / family
My partner
My friends
My money
My home
Medical care
My phone

What always strikes me is that we tend to reach for our human connections first and foremost. If all of these things are acknowledged then people can if invited go to the natural world and speak of the trees or the rivers or the wildlife but most people go to the list above first and go no further ....

It makes no sense to me at all, I believe the list needs to be more like this ....

Water
Soil
Seed
The web of life, all animals
My spiritual connection

The thing is without these basic elemental things on the second list the first list cannot exist !! I understand that so many of us are in a basic daily fight for survival and it seems a luxury to consider the things I suggest are more important but without then you are DEAD - we all are dead and all life is dead ... 💚🙏💚💚💚🌳🌳🌳

Fighting over who owns the great Mother, how utterly ridiculous
Fighting over who's god is the right one, how utterly ridiculous

ALL life is equally important, the loss of human life is no worse that any other living creature.

The madness of the human race - this is all any wars have ever been about and nothing has ever changed. Maybe we will only realise the absurdity of our behaviour all after we are all dead and the planet is plundered into total Annihilation 😞😞😞

*The Earth is not for sale*

In a capital growth society the ecology is a subset of the economy - in a reciprocal life enhancing society money is a subset of the ecology. In our modern world nature is seen as a commodity to sell in order to keep the economical systems going when actually it should be the other way around as in the economy should be in service to the protection and thriving of the natural world.

The modern system is total madness and can only go in one direction - which is to destroy all life. It is impossible to protect the natural world in a culture that needs to sell it and destroy it to ‘succeed’ = the capital growth society ! It is impossible to keep ‘growing’ when the way to grow is to sell the earth resources because they are finite, meaning a lot of what we are using took millions of years to make and the one’s that take less time we are using at a far faster rate than we can replace them. It’s a fundamental impossibility. So we are on a one way road to self destruct as long as money is the holy grail for our survival and the system for humans on planet earth.

Money is no longer acting as an IOU note for an exchange of corn and bread as it was once upon a time - it is now valuable in and of itself, but that is only because we all agree to give it this meaning of value, whether a piece of paper with a picture on it or a digit on a screen.

When the banks decided to give interest on money then we could make money with money and then reciprocity was obsolete. If it was the opposite way round and money depreciated in value the longer you kept it because you had to PAY interest to keep it, people would be keen to spend it and then everyone in the community would be more wealthy, in fact the less you have the wealthier you would be !! In a reciprocal life enhancing society personal wealth would have no value..

We will never be able to protect the natural world from destruction and exploitation as long as the natural world sits as a subset to money. And this is true for ALL of us, not just the fat cats at the top, it applies even to the poorest people as we all have to get enough money personally to survive, thats how the system is set up. And as long as this modern system stays as it is we cannot all be wealthy. If one person has more another does have less, this is the basics of how the system works.

We worship at the alter of the economic system via shopping centres and via TV etc, these have become our churches. We need to be worshipping at the alter of the natural world for the long term future of life and find ways back to community, simple exchange of skills and goods and a culture of reciprocity.

Community is the way forwards, gift economy is the way forward, paying interest on savings is the way forwards. Love is the way forwards and listening to the wisdom of the indigenous one’s.

I spend some time in the ancient Yew tree forest down at Kingsley Vale at the weekend with my Beloved, such an incredible magical place. To see and feel what these ancient beings have witnessed over thousands if years. I could feel them talking to me and saying summit like "oh dear what have you done humans" I felt such grief and sadness about the state of our world and that all the destruction we have caused boil down to the human wound and what we do as a result of our pain. The pain of separation at source and when we are separate we will hurt each other and hurt and destroy all life, to try and ease the pain or fill the empty hole...

It seems to me that all wars are basically either us fighting over the Mother (who own the Earth and different bits of it) which is a ridiculous concept to begin with as how can we own her!! or fighting over the Father (who's version of god is the 'real or right' one)

When will we wake up and see that all the suffering is our separation and the work is to embed ourselves HUMBLY back into our place in the web of life, to listen to the natural world, to respect it and cherish and learn to understand it. The mother is not here to be taken or owned, the father is not here to make right and wrong.

The trees are speaking and we need to listen - deeply - It's interesting that the Ash is dying right now because Ash in the Celtic mythology is the tree of Life and the tree of life is dying, she is trying to show us what we are doing !!

15/03/2024

The mass killing of babies and children in the 10’s of thousands is horrific beyond belief. To think that there are humans who can kill and torture innocent life on mass scale like this is just so hard to comprehend. I mean, who are these evil people without any heart or consideration for life - NOT ME I hear us cry, not me, I would never do that and I will not stay silent we cry, I will speak out for the protection of these babies and women and demand that this stops NOW !!Well………

will we also, with the same amount of passion and sense of righteous injustice do the same for the innocent animals we kill and torture on mass in the MILLIONS that do not deserve it so we can eat a piece of meat or wear their skins or use shampoo that doesn’t sting our eyes. And will we do the same for the animals that are DAILY tortured in labs across the world in unimaginable ways if that was what we were shown on the news daily ? (What if all test labs had glass walls we could see it would we feel differently)Will we do the same for the rivers….Will we do the same for the trees….

Will we do the same for all the hundreds if not thousands of species of animals we have genocided over the last few decades…..

The list goes on, yet only when it is human life do we witness this level of collective response of anger and outrage and a ‘this must stop’. mass movement. Yet the truth is we have all been a part of mass genocide of most of life on the planet for decades.I do not believe that human life is more important - ALL life is important yet we place more outrage when human life is lost that to anything else and the finger is pointed at these evil few doing all the killing and torturing yet so many of us seem happy enough to continue to let the mass murder of most natural life on earth to continue and stay silent about it, get on with our lives and look the other way.

I feel a hypocrisy here somehow and I believe this is the true sickness of our world.

I am not saying it is not horrific that babies are being tortured and killed, IT IS but how about we start feeling the same level of outrage and pain for ALL life. I feel we need to take a good hard look in the mirror before we point the finger at these barbaric few murderers somewhere a few hundreds miles away from us and look within at the uncomfortable truth of our complicity in the mass genocide of most of life of earth. And yes you may say ‘well I didn’t kill the animals so it’s not me, I’m not the evil one’ This may be true but staying silent IS your complicity. So surely if speaking up is your value doesn’t it need to be for all life and not just babies in Gaza ?
