A woodland garden, under-planted with a large collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, as well as specimen trees and shrubs.

Created in 1957 as a memorial garden by Betty Macdonald of Barguillean for her son Angus, this picturesque nine-acre woodland garden is set around the tranquil shores of Loch Angus in historic Glen Lonan.

The group comprises 20 gardens varying in size, style and maturity, dating from the 13th to the 20th century.

They are spread throughout the mainland of Argyll, often in dramatic scenery, and to the islands of Bute, Gigha, and Seil.

There are many outstanding plants to be discovered including species rhododendrons, magnolias and fine specimens of conifer, some of which are the largest trees in Britain.

Discover Scottish Gardens Tree Festival runs from 30 September - 2nd December and features many of our Gardens.
